Dexter Lawrence highest-ranked Giants defender ever in 'Top 100'

DEXTER-LAWRENCE-TOP-100

Dexter Lawrence keeps adding to his legacy.

Coming off his third consecutive Pro Bowl selection, the defensive lineman was rated No. 17 on "The NFL Top 100 Players of 2025" as voted on by current players. That makes him the highest-ranked Giants defender ever to make the list, which debuted in 2011.

Lawrence was previously tied with former defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul, who came in at No. 24 in 2012 after one of the most dominant seasons in franchise history. In 2011, Pierre-Paul helped propel the Giants to a Super Bowl XLVI championship run with 16.5 sacks, the fourth-most in team history.

The highest-ranked Giants player overall on the "Top 100" remains wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. (No. 8 in 2017).

This is Lawrence's third year on the list. He was ranked No. 24 last year and No. 28 in 2023.

He joins Malik Nabers in the 2025 edition. After breaking the Giants' single-season reception record as a rookie, the wide receiver debuted at No. 67. It is the third consecutive year the Giants have multiple players on the Top 100.

Lawrence led the Giants with nine sacks last season, despite missing five games with a dislocated elbow. It was the second time the interior defensive linemen had the most on the team, also doing it in 2022 with 7.5.

Since he was drafted 17th overall in 2019, the Clemson product has recorded 30 career sacks, 13th-most in franchise history. He has a chance to climb into the top 10 this season. Jessie Armstead and Erik Howard are next up with 30.5 apiece, and then it's Carl Banks at No. 10 (36 sacks) and Mathias Kiwanuka at No. 9 (38.5).

For 2025, the NFL is revealing two players each weekday, with 10 total players ranked per week over 10 weeks leading up to the start of the season. The top 10 will be announced on Monday, Sept. 1 at 8 p.m. ET on NFL Network.
