Eli Manning is among 52 Modern-Era Players who have advanced in the voting process for the Pro Football Hall of Fame's Class of 2026.
The two-time Super Bowl MVP quarterback was a finalist (final 15) for the Class of 2025 in his first year of eligibility.
Candidates in the Modern-Era Player category must have appeared in a professional football game no later than the 2020 season.
This year's original list of nominees began with 128 players – 77 on offense, 42 on defense and nine on special teams. Lomas Brown, who played for the Giants late in his career and started at left tackle in their Super Bowl XXXV appearance, is also among the final 52.
The next step of the process will be a vote for 25 players to advance to the Semifinalist stage, which will be announced in roughly five weeks, according to the Hall of Fame.
Reduction votes also are occurring in the Seniors, Coach and Contributor categories.
On Tuesday, the Hall of Fame announced that Tom Coughlin, who led Manning and the Giants to two Super Bowl titles, is among 12 coaches who moved one step closer to Canton. Later this week, progress in the Seniors and Contributor categories will be announced.
Quarterback Charlie Conerly, linebacker Carl Banks and running back Ottis Anderson are among the final 52 players in the Seniors category. Everson Walls, who is known for his days with Dallas but won his only Super Bowl with the Giants, is also on the list.
Eventually, 20 Finalists will be presented at the Selection Committee's annual meeting next year in advance of Super Bowl LX: 15 Modern-Era Players, three Seniors, one Coach and one Contributor. While there is no set number of enshrinees for any class, the Hall of Fame's selection process bylaws stipulate that between four and eight new members will be selected.
The Class of 2026 will be enshrined next August in Canton.
