Brothers don't shake hands. Brothers gotta hug … or hit each other the first chance they get when their respective NFL teams meet Friday night in the preseason finale.

That will be the case for Francis and Francisco Mauigoa at MetLife Stadium. The former, who goes by Sisi, is the Giants' rookie right guard and first-round pick. The latter, known as Kiko, is a Jets linebacker who started eight games last season as a fifth-round selection.

If the opportunity arises for a white No. 65 jersey to line up squarely with a green No. 51, Sisi won't hesitate. He knows what he will do.

"Pancake him," Sisi said. "Like old days."

Kiko knows it's coming.

"I already told him," said Sisi, who is two years younger but 100 pounds heavier.

However, it will be reciprocal.

"Oh yeah," Sisi said. "I mean, I expect it."

Brotherly banter aside, it will be a memorable night for the Mauigoa family.

"It's going to be something special," Sisi said. "Most of our life, we've been playing with each other but now we're playing against each other. And it's something new, but it's also what we dream for. The NFL, it's what we dream for. And to be able to go against him, he knows that I'm going to bring it. It's going to be an extra juice behind it, because I know that if he ever gets something on me, I will never hear the end of it."

Sisi, who grew up playing rugby and volleyball, began his football journey in sixth grade as a defensive lineman on the JV team at Tafuna High School in Pago Pago, American Samoa. For his freshman year of high school, his parents sent him and Kiko to Aquinas Catholic High School in San Bernardino, Calif., to have a better chance at pursuing a college scholarship.

They won the league title in 2019 and returned to American Samoa for Sisi's sophomore year as he and his brother could not return to the U.S. after coming home in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. Tafuna went undefeated that season, and Sisi then transferred to IMG Academy in Florida for his junior and senior seasons.

There, he made the switch to the offensive line. The move paid off.

Sisi became a three-year starter and All-American at the University of Miami, where he played with Kiko for two seasons. A year after he saw his brother drafted, Sisi was taken with the 10^th overall pick.

He joined a Giants organization that knows all about famous siblings squaring off (look no further than the Mannings and Barbers) and the mixed emotions that can come with it for the parents.

Fa'alialia and Telesia Mauigoa are not new to the game, though. They have two other sons in their football family. Frederick was a center at Washington State and spent time with the Panthers and Bengals. Meanwhile, the eldest, Frank, played quarterback in high school before enlisting in the Army and playing football and volleyball at North Park University in Chicago.

"Stuff like this, I know it's hard for my mom," Sisi said. "My mom, I texted my mom yesterday if she's going to be here, she was hesitant. She doesn't want to see us playing against each other. But I told her we're not playing against each other. We're playing for the same purpose of supporting our family. And now she's going to book her flight and hopefully see her older son get pancaked by her younger son."

After the game, he will return to his home away from home in East Rutherford.

But there's no escape in the offensive line room. Andrew, Jon, John and Jermaine like to remind him he's also their younger brother.

"I mean, they bring hell on me," Sisi said with a laugh. "They have me do all these jokes, bring all these snacks. But every rookie got to go through it. But it's also that team bonding, where they don't really just harass me for no reason, they'll just kind of pick me up after it, like alright, you forgot about this, so they start ordering it. Stuff like that, they're always there. And me, I'm the type of guy to ask a lot of questions when I don't know stuff. So, a lot of it has been helped from JMS (center John Michael Schmitz Jr.), (right tackle) Jermaine (Eluemunor), AT (left tackle Andrew Thomas), and also (left guard) Jon (Runyan). And yeah, they welcome me in with open arms, and hopefully I can withstand the culture of the offensive linemen and improve it."
