The New York Football Giants announced today that they will kick off their  12th annual "Tackling Breast Cancer" fundraising campaign this Sunday in support of October's National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Beginning on October 9, when the Giants take on the Seahawks, and continuing throughout the month, the Giants will host a series of initiatives aimed at bringing awareness to the importance of annual mammography screenings. The team will also be honoring those who were affected by breast cancer with special pre and in-game presentations as well as online at Giants.com and its social networking subsites.

During each Giants home game during October (this week vs. Seattle, October 16 vs. Buffalo and October 30 vs. Miami), the color pink will be featured in the following ways:

 *   Game balls with pink ribbon decals used for every down
 *   Pink equipment for players, including: cleats, wristbands, gloves, sideline caps, helmet decals,  captains' patches, chin straps, shoe laces, skull caps, sideline towels, eye shield decals and quarterback towels
 *   Pink coins used for the coin toss
 *   Pink sideline caps for coaches and sideline personnel and pink ribbon pins for coaches and team executives
 *   Pink caps, wristbands, whistles and pins for game officials
 *   Pink goal post padding in end zones
 *   Giants logo in both endzones outlined in pink

Game-worn pink merchandise and footballs will be autographed post-game and auctioned at NFL Auction (NFL.com/Auction). Towels ($5.00 donation) with the inscription "Tackling Breast Cancer," pink water bottles ($10.00 donation) and pink Giants hats ($20.00 donation) will be available throughout the stadium and parking lots and can be obtained by donating to Zeta Tau Alpha sorority volunteers. All proceeds collected from these events will be donated to local and team charities.

At Sunday's game, breast cancer survivors will be on-field forming a fan tunnel for player introductions. The Survivors and wives of Giants players and coaches will also line up on the field during the performance of the National Anthem.

In addition, the team will be partnering with the Connecticut-based clothing company Vineyard Vines on the in-stadium promotion, "The Giants Pink Seat presented by Vineyard Vines". Together they will install one pink seat, in the Vineyard Vines signature pantone pink color at each October home game. After each game, the pink seat will be removed, autographed by members of the Giants, and then auctioned with all proceeds going to local and team charities. Guests invited to sit in the pink seat will be presented with a commemorative pink gift bag filled with a variety of accessories and a $500 gift card, courtesy of Vineyard Vines and the New York Giants.

Giants fans are also invited to tweet their thoughts and well wishes to loved ones affected by breast cancer or show their support for breast cancer awareness. To participate, follow @Giants on Twitter and tag your tweet with #NYGBCA. Live Twitter updates will run during pre-game and halftime throughout the month where fan messages will be posted on videoboards throughout MetLife Stadium.

Participants can also visit Facebook.com/NewYorkGiants starting Monday to upload photos of themselves or loved ones who have been affected by breast cancer.  The Giants will pay tribute to these individuals, and everyone affected by breast cancer, by proudly displaying the uploaded Facebook photos in-stadium during the Giants October 30 game vs. the Miami Dolphins.
