East Rutherford, NJ – The New York Giants have selected Coach Melissa Menges of Holmdel High School (Holmdel, NJ) as the High School Flag Football Coach of the Week for Week 4 of the 2025 season.

The High School Flag Football Coach of the Week Award is part of the Giants' continuing effort to support local high school flag football programs. Each week during the high school girls flag football season, the Giants will select one area high school head coach as the Coach of the Week winner. The selection is based on the coach's continuing commitment towards promoting youth football, developing motivated student-athletes and contributing overall to their community.

In recognition of Coach Menges selection as Coach of the Week, a $2,000 check from The Giants Foundation will be given to the Homdel High School girls flag football program. Coach Menges will also receive a certificate of recognition signed by Giants head coach Brian Daboll and will be honored at a recognition ceremony after the season and at a 2025 Giants preseason home game.

The Holmdel Hornets were among the first 8 high schools to offer high school girls flag football in the Shore Conference when the sport was introduced back in 2021. Menges has served as coach since the team was created five years ago and has helped to grow the sport year over year. The state of New Jersey is in the final year of its high school girls flag football pilot program and looks to sanction flag football as a varsity sport next spring. The Hornets are off to a 2-1 start to the season and are currently in third place in a competitive north division of the Shore Conference. Menges grew up learning the game of football from her father who served as a coach and her brother who played, and now leads her own team inspiring a generation of athletes to follow in her footsteps.

Menges also serves as a mathematics teacher at Holmdel High School and was named one of the "Teachers of the Year" through the Governor's Education of the Year Recognition Program in 2023. In 2024, Menges also served as a coach in the second Shore Conference North/South All-Star game where she had two student-athletes on the roster representing Holmdel. She continues to be a role model for her student-athletes and serves as an advocate for women in sports and is a vital resource to the Holmdel academic and athletic community.

"Melissa Menges has been a dedicated educator at Holmdel High School for the past 11 years. Her strong work ethic and commitment to her students are reflected not only in the classroom but also through her active involvement in numerous school-related activities. Ms. Menges serves as a head coach for three sports, including 11 years as the head coach for both fall and winter cheerleading, and five years leading the flag football team.

"She played a pivotal role in launching the Holmdel Girls Flag Football program and has been instrumental in its ongoing growth and success. Since its inception in 2021, the team has quickly become one of the top programs in the Shore Conference. Participation numbers have steadily increased, and the team's achievements on the field speak for themselves—with a 22-7 record and four playoff appearances in the program's first five years. We are grateful for the hard work and commitment of Ms. Menges," said Michael Casale, Athletic Director for Holmdel High School.
