East Rutherford, NJ – The New York Giants and Gatorade have selected Mr. Mike Seber of Neptune High School (Neptune, N.J.) as the Lou Rettino High School Coach of the Week for Week 9 of the 2025 season. The Neptune Scarlet Fliers improved to 8-1 and won their 8th game in a row on Friday night, defeating Raritan 26-13. The victory made Neptune the Class D South Shore Conference Champions and gave this storied football program their first division title since 1998. Neptune dedicated the game to former head coach and long-time football assistant Tom Walsh, who died in July, one week after retiring after 40 years as an educator.

The Lou Rettino High School Football Coach of the Week Award is part of the Giants' continuing effort to support local high school football programs. The Giants elected to name the award in memory of former Union High School (NJ) coach, Lou Rettino, for his fine commitment to the game of football, his community, and the betterment of his athletes' lives. Each week during the high school football season, the Giants selected one area high school head coach as the Coach of the Week winner. The selection is based on the coach's continuing commitment towards promoting youth football, developing motivated student-athletes, and contributing overall to their community.

In recognition of Coach Seber's selection as Coach of the Week, a $2,000 check will be granted to the school's football program from The Giants Foundation and Gatorade. He will also receive a certificate of recognition signed by Giants head coach Brian Daboll and will be honored at a dinner following the season, as well as a 2026 pre-season home game.

Seber became head football coach of Neptune High School in 2023 and has served as a teacher in the district for 18 years, and an assistant coach at the high school for nine seasons across two different tenures. He also served as an assistant coach at Freehold Borough and Marlboro, where he graduated in 1999. He attended St. Peter's College, where he played quarterback from 2000-2003. The Scarlet Fliers have improved every season with Seber as head coach, going from two wins in 2023, to five wins in 2024, and now 8 wins so far in 2025.

"First and foremost, I want to thank my wife, Erin, for allowing me to pursue my dream of being a head football coach," said Seber. "Without her unwavering support, none of this success would be possible.

I have been truly blessed with the opportunity to help rebuild a historically dominant high school football program. Neptune is a community that loves and supports athletics, and together we have worked to establish a strong culture and foundation for long-term success. Our accomplishments would not have been possible without the dedication and passion of my coaching staff — Frank Iachetta, Jaheem Woods, Myson Ledet, Michael Kasten, Netanis Bean, Frank Martuscelli, Ron Puryear, Mi'juat Berry, Mike Randolph, and Bernard Morrison. I also want to express my gratitude to our parents, alumni, and administration who have stood by us during the early stages of this rebuilding process. Finally, a special thank you to the New York Giants for this incredible honor — being named the New York Giants High School Coach of the Week is a recognition that reflects the hard work of our entire program and community."
