The Giants Foundation and Gatorade to contribute $2,000 to flag football program

East Rutherford, NJ – The New York Giants and Gatorade have selected Mr. Dylan Everleth of Saranac High School (Saranac, NY) as the Lou Rettino High School Coach of the Week for Week 1 of the 2023 season. Coach Everleth lead the Saranac girls flag football team to an undefeated 8-0 season in Section VII's first season of play, including an impressive 20-13 win over previously-undefeated Moriah in their seventh game of the season. This was Coach Everleth's second successful football season of the school year, as he also guided the Saranac tackle team to a 7-3 record and the Section VII Class C title, the third football championship in school history.

The Lou Rettino High School Football Coach of the Week Award is part of the Giants' continuing effort to support local high school football programs. The Giants elected to name the award in memory of former Union High School (NJ) coach, Lou Rettino, for his fine commitment to the game of football, his community and the betterment of his athletes' lives. Each week during the high school football season, the Giants selected one area high school head coach as the Coach of the Week winner. The selection is based on the coach's continuing commitment towards promoting youth football, developing motivated student-athletes and contributing overall to their community.

In recognition of Coach Everleth's selection as Coach of the Week, a $2,000 check will be granted to the school's flag football program from The Giants Foundation and Gatorade. He will also receive a certificate of recognition signed by Giants head coach Brian Daboll, and will be honored at a dinner following the season, as well as a 2024 pre-season home game.

The Giants are proud sponsors of Section VII's launch of the rapidly growing sport, and hosted Saranac at Quest Diagnostics Training Center on June 7th for a celebration of their season with Coach Brian Daboll, along with some friendly competition with other championship teams from the tri-state area.

Coach Everleth is a native of Morrisonville, NY, located in the Saranac School District, and graduated from Saranac High School in 2011 as a three sport athlete in football, basketball and baseball. He attended SUNY Cortland, earning a degree in Physical Education while competing on the football team. In 2018, he return home to Saranac as a teacher and to become head coach of the varsity tackle football team.

"Football has been my life for as long as I can remember, and when the New York Giants presented us with an opportunity to start football for young female athletes in our community, I knew I couldn't miss out," said Everleth. "Since then, it has been nothing short of amazing experience with an even greater group of young women. As I walk through the halls each day at school, I am constantly approached by young female athletes eager to be a part of such a special sport that has skyrocketed in our area. The support from our Saranac community has created a culture that promotes football year-round for any young athlete looking to compete. I consider myself very lucky to be a part of something this special in a school district that I hold very close to my heart."
