East Rutherford, NJ – The New York Giants have selected Coach Michael Carr of Union-Endicott High School in Endicott, NY as the High School Flag Football Coach of the Week for week 5 of the 2025 season.
The High School Flag Football Coach of the Week Award is part of the Giants' continuing effort to support local high school flag football programs. Each week during the high school girls flag football season, the Giants will select one area high school head coach as the Coach of the Week winner. The selection is based on the coach's continuing commitment towards promoting youth football, developing motivated student-athletes and contributing overall to their community.
In recognition of Carr's selection as Coach of the Week, a $2,000 check from The Giants Foundation will be given to the Union-Endicott High School girls flag football program. Carr will also receive a certificate of recognition signed by Giants head coach Brian Daboll and will be honored at a recognition ceremony after the season and at a 2025 Giants preseason home game.
Coach Carr has served as the Tiger's head coach since the program was created in 2022 and was one of the first seven high school girls flag football programs in Section IV. Carr has led his team to a 9-1 start to the season and they have outscored their opponents 212-86.
A graduate of Union-Endicott High School, Carr was multi-sport student-athlete and embraced all the lessons he has learned through sports which he now shares with his team of flag football players. Additionally, Carr is a 5th grade teacher at Thomas J. Watson Elementary School and attributes the success of his students in the classroom and on the football field to the importance of discipline, relationships and hard work.
"In my first year as Director of Athletics at Union-Endicott, I asked for — and received — permission to begin a Girls Flag Football program. That part was easy. The next challenge was finding the right person to lead the program in its inaugural season and continue building it in a way that was competitive, engaging, and fun. Fortunately, that part was easy too. Union-Endicott alum and standout student-athlete Mikey Carr immediately came to mind," said Teresa McKinney, Director of Athletics at Union-Endicott High School.
"He truly values each of his players, and through his leadership, he's helped instill confidence, toughness, and a strong sense of belonging in every young woman on the team. Mikey is constantly looking for ways to grow the program. He's volunteered to work with athletic directors and flag football committees to help expand opportunities for girls in the sport, not just at Union-Endicott, but across the region."
