The Giants will go on their bye in Week 14, the latest possible slot in the NFL schedule. They will return on Sunday, Dec. 14 to host the Commanders. The Giants will play three of their final four games at home, including matchups with the Vikings in Week 15 and the Cowboys in the finale. In between, they travel to Las Vegas.

WHAT WE LEARNED ABOUT THE OFFENSE

Quarterback Jaxson Dart, who had not played since suffering a concussion in Week 10 at Chicago, cleared protocol on Thursday and returned to the starting lineup in time to make his Monday Night Football debut. Jameis Winston was the backup after starting the last two games. Russell Wilson served as the emergency third quarterback.

After falling behind 17-0, the Giants got on the board early in the second quarter with a 30-yard catch-and-run touchdown by Darius Slayton. It was the veteran wide receiver's first touchdown since Dec. 29, 2024.

In his return, Dart completed 17 of 24 passes for 139 yards and a touchdown. He also ran four times for 20 yards, including a long of 12 yards before taking a big hit by linebacker Christian Elliss on the sideline early in the game.

Running back Devin Singletary scored his third touchdown in three weeks on a 22-yard run on the first play of the fourth quarter. Slayton caught the ensuing two-point conversion after Dart bought time in the backfield, bringing the Giants to within 15 points.

Running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. suffered a hip injury with 10:28 remaining in the game.

The Giants converted only four third downs in 11 attempts while recording 239 yards, their second-lowest total of the season (231 in Week 1 at Washington). They were also unsuccessful on all three of their tries on fourth down.

The Giants' streak of scoring 20+ points ended at seven games. It was tied for the team's second-longest streak (2008) in a single season since 2000. The 2011 Giants scored 20+ points in eight consecutive games.

WHAT WE LEARNED ABOUT THE DEFENSE

The week started with defensive coordinator Shane Bowen being relieved of his duties. Outside linebackers coach Charlie Bullen took over his role, making Monday night the first time he called plays in his coaching career.

Bowen's departure marked another significant change to the coaching staff. Brian Daboll was dismissed two weeks prior, with Mike Kafka taking over as interim head coach. Kafka then named tight ends coach Tim Kelly to fill his previous role as offensive coordinator. Bowen was in his second season as defensive coordinator, a position he previously held for three years with the Tennessee Titans.

Bullen's first test was a tough one. Last week, Drake Maye joined Hall of Famer Dan Marino (10 in 1984 MVP season) as the only quarterbacks with an 80+ passer rating and a win in nine consecutive games prior to age 24. They are now tied with 10.

The Patriots scored on five of their first six possessions in the first half. The 30 points were the most allowed by the Giants in a first half since Jan. 3, 2010 at Minnesota (31 points).

Outside linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux missed his third consecutive game with a shoulder injury. Rookie Abdul Carter did not start for the second time in three games due to a coach's decision. Instead, Chauncey got the start opposite Brian Burns.

Carter, the third overall draft pick, entered the game in the second quarter and registered the first full sack of his career on third-and-short, forcing the Patriots to punt.

Cornerback Paulson Adebo returned from a five-game absence due to a knee injury. He was on track to return in Week 11 but felt discomfort in his knee after pregame warmups, causing him to miss the game.

WHAT WE LEARNED ABOUT SPECIAL TEAMS

Terrell Jennings returned the opening kickoff 39 yards to the Patriots 47-yard line, leading to a field goal and an early 3-0 lead for New England.

Things got worse from there for the special teams units. The Giants were forced to punt on their opening possession, and Marcus Jones returned it 94 yards the other way for a touchdown. The Patriots are now tied with the Seahawks for the most miscellaneous touchdowns scored (five): two punt returns, an interception return, a kickoff return, and a fumble return. Jones returned his next punt for 17 yards.

The Giants had a chance to string together 10 unanswered points and cut the deficit to one possession midway through the second quarter. That's when Younghoe Koo lined up for a 47-yard field goal attempt, but his kicking foot jammed in the turf on the follow-through before touching the ball. The Giants had to abort the play, which was officially ruled a 13-yard rushing loss by punter Jamie Gillan, who doubles as the holder.

After New England jumped out to a 24-7 lead, Gunner Olszewski took a big hit while returning the ensuing kickoff with 3:23 left in the first half and lost a fumble. Olszewski was evaluated for a concussion and ruled out. The Patriots kicked a field goal on the ensuing drive to extend their lead to 20 points at the time.
