Jaxson Dart named PFF Rookie of the Week

Cam Skattebo wasn't the only Giants rookie to be recognized for his performance on Thursday Night Football.

On the same day the first-year running back was nominated for the FedEx Air & Ground Player of the Week, his quarterback was celebrated by Pro Football Focus - Jaxson Dart was named PFF's Rookie of the Week.

"Dart delivered the best performance of his young career as the Giants defeated the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday Night Football," wrote PFF's Gordon McGuinness. "He avoided any turnover-worthy plays and earned PFF grades above 80.0 both as a passer and a runner, showcasing poise and dual-threat ability in the prime-time win."

In his first start in primetime, Dart completed 17 of 25 passes for 195 yards, one touchdown and no turnovers for a passer rating of 104.6. The rookie quarterback also continued to be a threat with his legs, totaling 58 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries (4.5 avg.).

The 22-year-old became the third quarterback in the Super Bowl era to rush for 50+ yards in each of his first three career starts, joining Lamar Jackson and Jalen Hurts.

Dart's numbers were even more impressive on the few occasions the Eagles were able to get pressure on him, as he completed four of six pass attempts for 96 yards and a touchdown when under pressure, good for a passer rating of 149.3.

"I've liked everything about Dart since we got him," coach Brian Daboll said after the win. "Again, it's not perfect. Not gonna be perfect, whatever it may be. But he's got toughness, I think he sees the field well, he's got athleticism, vision, leadership. But it's three games in, 2-1 as a starting quarterback. But a lot to work on. He'll be the first to tell you that. He's a leader."

Daboll added, "He leads by his play, he leads by his words, he leads by his emotion, he leads by his loose plays. Glad he's my quarterback, our quarterback. Again, he's a rookie. As one of my mentors once said, Let's not give him a gold jacket right now. Coach Parcells. But he's a good young player to work with."
