Kayvon Thibodeaux among top-selling jerseys in UK

Kayvon Thibodeaux was drafted just under six weeks ago, but he is already gaining popularity among the fans.

Thibodeaux's No. 5 jersey is among the top-selling NFL jerseys in the United Kingdom, NFL UK revealed earlier this week.

The No. 5 overall pick in this year's draft joins some elite company in the top 10 most popular jersey sales over in the UK. Former league MVPs Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson made the list, along with some of the other top players in the NFL, including Russell Wilson, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, Cooper Kupp and Davante Adams.

Not only is Thibodeaux the only rookie to crack the top 10, but he is also the lone defensive player to make the list.

Fans in the UK will get the chance to see Thibodeaux go up against Rodgers this year when the Giants and Packers face off against each other in London on October 9.

The game will take place at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and will begin at 9:30 AM ET.

ESPN projects Kayvon Thibodeaux to finish top 3 in sacks among rookies

Many analysts are high on the Giants' No. 5 overall pick.

Since being drafted, Kayvon Thibodeaux has been called everything from a "perfect fit" for the Giants defense to a favorite to be named Defensive Rookie of the Year.

ESPN's Mike Clay recently projected the top NFL rookie leaders in various key stat categories. When it came to sacks, Clay has Thibodeaux in the top 3, alongside the first two overall picks.

Here are ESPN's projected rookie sack leaders:

  1. Travon Walker, Jacksonville Jagaurs - 7.4
  2. Aidan Hutchinson, Detroit Lions - 7.1
  3. Kayvon Thibodeaux, New York Giants - 7.0
  4. George Karlaftis, Kansas City Chiefs - 6.4
  5. Jermaine Johnson II, New York Jets - 5.8

As Clay notes, "The sack projections for Walker, Hutchinson and Thibodeaux (all top-five picks) would rank in the top 20 first-round picks over the past decade."

Thibodeaux registered 19.0 sacks in 31 career games at Oregon to go with 34.5 total tackles for loss, the fifth-most among Power 5 players since 2019. He earned a 91.5 pass rush grade from Pro Football Focus in 2021 after recording seven sacks, 28 hurries and 48 total quarterback pressures in 11 games.

Daniel Jones progressing in 'versatile' system

The Giants' offseason will conclude Thursday with the final day of their minicamp, but Daniel Jones will not separate from his work in the six weeks before training camp begins.

The team's quarterback wants to improve his knowledge of Brian Daboll's offense and will keep studying during what is traditionally idle time in the NFL.

"I think the learning continues, and I'll continue to study and continue to work on what we've started here," Jones said Tuesday after the first camp practice. "I don't think you can afford to put it down and just come back during camp. I think everyone will be working to make sure we're in a good spot and coming back to camp ready to go."

Jones, who is learning his third offense in four years, was asked if he needs to do more because the offense is new to him.

"Yeah, I think probably so," Jones said. "There is certainly more studying and there is more kind of playbook-specific work rather than just fundamental throwing and stuff like that. So, yeah, I think there is more of that."
