6 p.m. -- The Giants' Week 17 road game against the Raiders will be played at 4:05 p.m. ET (CBS) on Sunday, Dec. 28, the NFL announced Wednesday night. The time and date of the game had previously been undetermined. The league finalized the rest of the Week 17 slate, including the movement of New England Patriots at New York Jets to 1 p.m. ET (FOX) on Sunday.
12:30 p.m. -- Mike Kafka said the Giants are opening the practice window for OL Joshua Ezeudu and WR Beaux Collins. They will be on the field today. The interim head coach said the following players will not practice today: DL D.J. Davidson, OLB Victor Dimukeje, P Jamie Gillan, CB Nic Jones, DL Rakeem Nuñez-Roches Sr., WR Gunner Olszewski, G Greg Van Roten, and OLB Kayvon Thibodeaux.
The Giants also switched two spots on their practice squad, adding P Cameron Johnston and WR Xavier Gipson while releasing CB Myles Purchase and WR Ray-Ray McCloud. Johnston, an Australian native, has punted in 99 regular-season games for the Eagles (2018-2020), Texans (2021-2023), Steelers (2024), and Bills (2025), who released him last month. In 2023, he set Houston's franchise record with a 74-yard punt. In 2018, he set Philadelphia's single-season franchise records in gross punting average (48.1) and net punting average (42.7). Since the former Big Ten Punter of the Year from Ohio State entered the NFL in 2018, Johnston is eighth in the NFL in net punt average (42.2 yards) and 10th in punts inside the 20 (185). Gipson had a brief stint with the Giants in September before the Eagles claimed him off waivers. He was waived on Sunday.
12:25 p.m. -- Commanders head coach Dan Quinn announced that QB Marcus Mariota will start Sunday against the Giants. QB Jayden Daniels (elbow) was ruled out. "Really bummed for Jayden," Quinn said. "He's working incredibly hard to get back on the field with his guys." Quinn said Daniels will be a limited participant in practice this week.

1:05 p.m. -- LB Darius Muasau and CB Art Green have been designated for return from IR.
Monday, Dec. 8
4:35 p.m. -- The Giants signed DL Casey Rogers to the practice squad. Rogers played two games for the Giants last season as an undrafted rookie and blocked a 60-yard field goal attempt in his NFL debut against the Saints. He was waived in May and claimed by the Bills, who released him before the beginning of this season. Rogers was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, playing his final two seasons for Oregon after spending three years at Nebraska. He played football and lacrosse at Westhill High School in Syracuse. His father, Lelan, was the lacrosse defensive coordinator at Syracuse (2008-21). Rogers originally committed to the Orange for lacrosse but switched to football.
3:35 p.m. -- Commanders head coach Dan Quinn confirmed that veteran TE Zach Ertz suffered a season-ending knee injury in the Commanders' Week 14 loss to the Vikings. As for QB Jayden Daniels, who left the game early after injuring the same elbow that sidelined him for a month, Quinn said Daniels is "sore" but there are "no long-term concerns" for the second-year quarterback. In terms of Daniels' status for Sunday's matchup, the head coach said it's too early to tell if the QB will play. "We will continue to monitor as the week goes."
3:30 p.m. -- The NFL released updated fan balloting results for the 2026 Pro Bowl Games. Two Giants are currently in the top 10 at their respective positions. Brian Burns is No. 1 at outside linebacker while Bobby Okereke is No. 6 at inside linebacker. Fan voting began on Thursday, Nov. 27 and continues until Monday, Dec. 15.
Sunday, Dec. 7
3:45 p.m. -- The Commanders lost to the Vikings 31-0 on the road. The Giants will host both teams in back-to-back weeks coming out of their late bye, starting with a visit from the former. QB Jayden Daniels left in the third quarter with a left elbow injury and did not return. The 2024 Offensive Rookie of the Year and second overall pick was returning from a three-game absence due to the elbow and has played only seven games this season. The Commanders, a year after they went 12-5 and made the NFC Championship Game, have lost eight consecutive games to fall to 3-10 on the season. The 5-8 Vikings, meanwhile, snapped a four-game skid and will play at Dallas on Sunday Night Football before their trip to MetLife Stadium. The 2-11 Giants are on a seven-game losing streak, not including their opening 21-6 loss to the Commanders in the first leg of the season series.

9:30 a.m. -- LB Bobby Okereke was named the Giants' club winner for the 2025 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award, which recognizes players for excellence on and off the field. The award was established in 1970 and renamed in 1999 after the late Hall of Fame running back, Walter Payton. Each team honors one player who has had a significant positive impact on his community, with one winner selected from the 32 nominees.
The winner of the award each year receives up to a $265,000 donation to the charity of his choice, while all 32 club winners receive up to a $55,000 donation. The winner of this year's Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award will be announced live at "NFL Honors" on Feb. 6.
Last year, wide receiver Darius Slayton was the Giants' club winner. Jaguars defensive end Arik Armstead went on to win the NFL award. Two-time Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning is the only Giants player ever to receive the award, which was first given to Johnny Unitas in 1970.

Tuesday, Dec. 2
1:45 p.m. -- GM Joe Schoen addressed the media before the Giants went on their bye in Week 14. Schoen talked about the state of the team and where things stand in the coaching search.
"I understand the frustration from fans, ownership, the people inside the building," Schoen said. "Nobody is more frustrated than myself, it starts with me, and I'm tasked with trying to get this organization going back in the proper direction. The standard is to compete for championships year in and year out and that's the plan moving forward. So, we're going to look at everything. Free agency, the draft, coaching, finishing, execution on the field, whatever it may be. We're going to look at all avenues in order to get this franchise back to where it belongs.
"As for the coaching changes we made earlier in the year. This is the first time I've spoke with you guys since we moved on from Coach (Brian) Daboll and Shane Bowen. Dabs and I have an extended history together professionally and personally, difficult decision, but one we decided to make and he's a great football coach and he's going to be successful in whatever he does after the New York Giants. I'll say the same with Shane, appreciate everything Shane did for us, tireless worker, good coach, good man and wish him nothing but the best moving forward as well.
"As for the coaching search, we're going to do everything we can right now to support (interim head coach Mike) Kafka. That's our primary focus right now is to give Kafka everything he needs in order to succeed over these next four weeks, support him and his staff. At the appropriate time, we'll get into potential coaches research and we'll do thorough collaborative research and come up with the best coach to lead the New York Giants going into the 2026 season.
"As for the roster, I do believe there is a good young core to build around here and it will be an attractive job for many coaches and I'm excited to get that process going as we move forward.
"I know you guys are going to have some questions on (outside linebacker) Abdul (Carter). I know Kafka just spoke upon that and I'm going to support him with whatever decision he makes in terms of player discipline. So again, I support him with that decision, and I'll just leave it at that. So, with that, I'll open it up for any questions you guys might have."
