The Giants.com crew members react to the 12-7 win over the Titans on Sunday at MetLife Stadium.

John Schmeelk: The Giants would not have beaten the Titans without Jevón Holland. His ability to read Cam Ward's body language that allowed him to get in the right position for the interception was critical and illustrated his detailed preparation. It's easy to forget that interception happened on first down in a situation where the Titans would have had three more attempts to score.

If that play showed his mental acuity, his pass breakup earlier in the game showed his elite physical skills. On a 4rd and 7 from their own 13 yard line with 12:14 remaining in the second quarter, the Titans tried to complete their first true downfield pass of the game. Wan'Dale Robinson was running across the field towards space near the sideline when the ball left Ward's hand. Despite almost ten yards separating Holland from Robinson, the safety accelerated and took the perfect angle to get there as the ball arrived and knock it away.

Holland has been the NFL's best defensive player in September and it isn't particularly close. Since the merger, only one other player has had 3 interceptions, a fumble recovery and 2 forced fumbles in their first three games of a season (Domingo Bryant – 1987).  He also has four passes defended. Three interceptions is a new career-high for Holland, and in his last three full seasons, he has only topped four passes defended once and two forced fumbles once.

This is why the Giants went out and signed Holland as a free agent during the 2025 offseason. They envisioned his playmaking in the back-end of the defense, and John Harbaugh has consistently spoken about how highly he thinks of Holland since he was hired. Dennard Wilson's scheme seems to have unlocked all of Holland's ability. He is playing not only his best football, but also some of the best football across the NFL.

Dan Salomone: An Arvell Reese game was coming. Through two starts, the rookie linebacker had 12 total tackles while banking invaluable reps in his development. Then he shifted into another gear on Sunday, doubling his season total in one afternoon. His head coach thought enough of the performance to give him a game ball.

"He sprang onto the scene today," John Harbaugh said in his postgame press conference.

Reese's 12 total tackles tied multiple players for the most by a Giants rookie since 1994, when they were officially tracked. He was part of a defense that held Tennessee to one first down in the first half, and the Titans did not convert a third down until late in the third quarter.

"I think it's just how I approached the week," Reese said. "After a loss, you always want to self-reflect and see what you could be doing better. So, I just self-reflected on that and came out this week with a chip on my shoulder."

Despite dominating the game, the Giants' defense was seven yards away from a potential heartbreaker. But on first-and-goal, safety Jevón Holland intercepted Cam Ward in the end zone with 17 seconds left on the clock. Holland said it crossed his mind that Ward might run the ball while rolling to the quarterback's left, but there was a 6-foot-4, 243-pound linebacker with 4.46 speed lurking to make him reconsider and throw the pass.

"We're chasing wins, so that's playing all 60 minutes," Reese said. "That's not playing for the first half and giving up the second half. That's playing hard the whole 60 minutes."

If that weren't enough, Reese also made a tackle on Jordan Stout's 74-yard punt in the second quarter.

"I take a lot of pride in that," Reese said. "They're calling me out for punt (team). They obviously think I can do it, and I know I can do it. That's the one special team I'm on, so I try to give it everything I got."

Matt Citak: Given John Harbaugh's background, we knew there would be added emphasis put on special teams this season. The moves made in the offseason backed this up as the Giants underwent a complete transformation of their specialists. Through the first three weeks of the season, we are already seeing the results of this extra focus on the third phase of the game.

Punter Jordan Stout was named first-team All-Pro for the first time in his career last season. The 28-year-old has followed that up with a very strong start to his first campaign with the Giants, including his performance against the Titans. Kicking in conditions that could be considered far from ideal, Stout averaged 50.5 yards on his six punts in Week 3. He had an impressive long punt of 74 yards, marking the second consecutive week in which he had a punt go for 70+ yards, and had three punts inside the 20.  Stout became the first punter in Giants history to have multiple punts of 70 or more yards in the same season, and he did it in back-to-back games in the first month of the season. Stout's leg has become a huge weapon for the Giants in the weekly field possession battle, as his 51.1 average yards per punt on the season currently ranks fourth in the NFL.

Stout also serves as the holder on field goals, where undrafted rookie Dominic Zvada had another perfect day. Zvada connected on all four of his field goal attempts against Tennessee as he accounted for all 12 of the Giants' points in the win. While his long on the day was only 39 yards, the 22-year-old kicked well as he battled through the rain and strong winds.

"I think when you get young guys, sometimes they just have to go out there and they have to do it, right?" assistant head coach/special teams coordinator Chris Horton said last week about Zvada. "And they have to do it enough for them to be like, you know what, I belong. And he belongs. And he's just got to go out there and continue to be consistent. Consistency is everything that is a part of his game and as long as he's consistent and he plays, he continues to do the things that he needs to do, starting in practice, and then carrying those things over to the game, he's going to be fine."

And let's not forget about the team's coverage units. Linebacker Zaire Barnes got the game started with a huge play, forcing a fumble on the opening kickoff which Malik Harrison recovered. But the performance of the coverage units goes beyond that one splash play. Through three games, the Giants rank inside the top 10 in both average punt and kickoff returns allowed. The special teams unit has undoubtedly played a significant role in the team beginning the season 2-1.
