The New York Giants have signed fullback Patrick Ricard at the start of free agency.
Here are five things to know about the team's new fullback.
1. Ricard entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2017 and spent the last nine seasons with head coach John Harbaugh and the Baltimore Ravens. In 132 games (66 starts) across those nine seasons, Ricard has recorded 49 receptions for 323 yards and seven touchdowns.
The 6-foot-3, 300-pound fullback has been named to the Pro Bowl six times (2019-2022, 2024, 2025) and has been selected as an All-Pro in each of the last three seasons (First-Team in 2024, Second-Team in 2023 & 2025).
2. Ricard began his career splitting time between fullback and defensive tackle, so his career stats also include 19 tackles (14 solo), four tackles for loss, three quarterback hits, one sack, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and one pass breakup.
3. The nine-year veteran has played a crucial role in the success of the Ravens' run game in recent years. In 2024, he blocked for an offense that ranked No. 1 in yards per game (424.9), yards per play (6.8 – third-best single-season mark in NFL history), and red zone efficiency (74.2 percent). The Baltimore run game also averaged a league-best 187.6 yards per game and 5.8 yards per carry (best figure in single-season NFL history).
Ricard helped block for a Baltimore rushing attack that topped 100 rushing yards in 43 consecutive games from 2018-2021, tying for the longest streak in NFL history.
4. Prior to joining the Ravens, Ricard appeared in 44 games for the University of Maine where he lined up at defensive tackle. He finished his collegiate career with 208 tackles, 47.5 tackles for loss, 18 sacks, 11 pass breakups, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and two blocked kicks.
As a senior in 2016, he earned first-team All-Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) honors after recording 50 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks. This came after he lead the CAA with 16.5 tackles for loss to go with his 53 stops and seven sacks as a junior, which earned him second-team All-CAA honors.
5. Ricard was nicknamed "Project Pat" by his teammates early in his career because of his ability to play on both offense and defense. Along the way, he picked up the nickname "Pancake Pat" due to his dominant blocking skills.
During his time at Maine, Ricard majored in economics.
He attended David Prouty High School in Spencer, Massachusetts, where he was a two-time Division II Defensive MVP and helped his team win two league titles, in addition to a 2009 Super Bowl Championship.
Ricard met his wife, Hayley, in high school, and the two got married in February of 2020. They have a daughter, Emerson.
