The New York Giants have signed veteran defensive lineman Shelby Harris.

Shelby, 6-2 and 288 pounds, has played in 146 regular-season games with 89 starts for the Raiders (2014-15), Broncos (2017-21), Seahawks (2022), and Browns (2023-25).

His career numbers include 358 total tackles, 65 quarterback hits, 58 tackles for loss, 40 passes defensed, 28.5 sacks, five forced fumbles, and one interception. Shelby has also started two postseason games.

Shelby's 40 passes defensed are second only to Pittsburgh's Cameron Heyward (56) for the most among defensive tackles since 2014. His 33.5 run stuffs (any tackle of a ball carrier behind the line of scrimmage during a rushing attempt) are 14th at his position in that span.

Shelby played in all 17 games last season with Cleveland. One of his highlights was blocking a 43-yard field goal attempt by Green Bay's Brandon McManus that would have tied the game with 27 seconds left. Instead, Shelby's play preserved a 13-10 victory for Cleveland.

He entered the NFL as a seventh-round draft choice by the Oakland Raiders in 2014.

Harris began his college career at Wisconsin before transferring to Illinois State, where he was a first-team All-Missouri Valley Football Conference selection.

The Giants recently traded three-time Pro Bowl defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence to the Bengals in exchange for their No. 10 draft pick, which they used on Miami offensive lineman Francis Mauigoa. The Giants added help on the defensive interior in Round 6, selecting Bobby Jamison-Travis from Auburn.
