The New York Giants have signed safety Ar'Darius Washington at the start of free agency.
Here are five things to know about the team's new safety.
1. Washington joined the Baltimore Ravens after going undrafted in 2021. He spent all five of his NFL seasons in Baltimore with head coach John Harbaugh, where he recorded 85 tackles (56 solo), seven tackles for loss, three sacks, seven quarterback hits, two forced fumbles, two interceptions and 10 passes defensed across 29 games (11 starts).
2. The 5-foot-8, 180-pound safety had his best campaign in 2024 when he played in all 17 games with 10 starts for the Ravens. He finished the season with 64 tackles (45 solo), five tackles for loss, one sack, two quarterback hits, one forced fumble, two interceptions and eight pass breakups, all of which either set new or matched his previous career-high marks.
3. Washington tore his Achilles last May, which sidelined him for most of the 2025 season. He was able to return for the final four games, where he recorded seven tackles (three solo), one sack, three quarterback hits (a new career-high) and one forced fumble.
4. The safety burst onto the college football scene as a redshirt freshman at TCU in 2019. That season, he registered five interceptions in 12 games on his way to being named the Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year, along with Freshman All-American by the Football Writers Association of America.
He finished his collegiate career with 86 tackles (62 solo), 12 passes defensed, five interceptions and 1.5 tackles for loss in 26 games (15 starts). Washington and teammate Trevon Moehrig, now a member of the Carolina Panthers, combined to form one of the nation's top safety duos in 2020.
5. While at TCU, Washington majored in criminal justice. Prior to arriving in Fort Worth, Texas, he was a star defensive back at Evangel Christian Academy in Shreveport, Louisiana. Washington received his school's Defensive Player of the Year award as a sophomore. As a senior, Washington was the No. 45 prospect in the nation as he contributed to his team on both offense and defense and helped them to an 8-2 record.
