TREMAINE-EDMUNDS

The New York Giants have signed linebacker Tremaine Edmunds at the start of free agency.

Here are five things to know about the team's new inside linebacker.

1. After entering the NFL as the 16th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, Edmunds has played and started 119 games over his eight seasons with the Buffalo Bills (2018-2022) and Chicago Bears (2023-2025). His career totals include 900 tackles (549 solo), 43 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, 24 quarterback hits, four forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, 14 interceptions, one defensive touchdown, and 59 passes defensed. He has also played in 10 postseason games where he totaled 84 tackles (58 solo), two tackles for loss, one sack, five quarterback hits, one fumble recovery and nine passes defensed.

2. The 6-foot-4, 251-pound linebacker, who made two Pro Bowls with the Bills in 2019 and 2020, has registered 100+ tackles in every season played. He also became the youngest player in NFL history to reach 100 career games.

3. During his first Pro Bowl campaign back in 2019, Edmunds racked up 115 total tackles (66 solo), including a career-high 10 tackles for loss, to go with 1.5 sacks, four quarterback hits, one safety and nine passes defensed while playing all 16 games.

4. Prior to being a first-round pick in the draft, Edmunds played three seasons at Virginia Tech. As a junior in 2017, he posted 109 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, and three forced fumbles on his way to being named third-team All-American by the Associated Press, along with first-team All-ACC. He also earned second-team All-ACC honors as a sophomore the prior year.

5. Edmunds attended Dan River High School in Virginia, where he earned numerous accolades, including first-team all-state for the Class 2A level by both VHSL and VirginiaPreps, first-team All-Conference 37 as a senior as both a linebacker and tight end, Conference 37 Defensive Back of the Year honors as both a junior and senior, and several more. His father, Ferrell Jr., played seven years in the NFL (Miami Dolphins and Seattle Seahawks). His brother, Terrell, was also a first-round pick in 2018 and is currently a member of the Las Vegas Raiders.
