🏈 Game Balls: Key performances from Week 7 win

LOCKER-ROOM

The New York Giants got back in the win column with a 27-21 overtime victory on the road over the Houston Texans in Week 7.

The Giants picked up 420 total yards of offense and held the Texans to only 237. After Cam Skattebo registered a career-long run of 42 yards on the Giants' second play from scrimmage in overtime, Devin Singletary followed it up with a 30-yard touchdown run to walk it off.

The win brings the Giants to 4-2-1 as they head into their bye week. Following the time off, they will face off against NFC East opponents in back-to-back weeks with matchups on the road against the Eagles and at home against the Commanders on Thursday Night Football.

Here are key performances from the Week 7 victory.

CAM-SKATTEBO

RB Cam Skattebo

One week after registering zero touches against the Saints, Skattebo had a career day in Houston. The second-year running back rushed for a career-high 124 yards, including a career-long run of 42 yards in overtime, and scored his second touchdown of the season. Skattebo forced six missed tackles and generated four explosive carries after having only five explosives through Week 6, according to Next Gen Stats.

MALIK-NABERS

WR Malik Nabers

Nabers continued his dominant stretch as the third-year wideout registered his fourth consecutive game with 100+ receiving yards. Nabers caught a game-high seven passes for 111 yards on 9 targets. His four games with 100+ receiving yards is the longest active streak in the NFL and the longest by a Giant since Odell Beckham Jr. did it in six straight games in 2015.

JJ-MCCARTHY

QB J.J. McCarthy

Following his historic fourth quarter in last week's loss, McCarthy kept his strong play going in his first start under center with the Giants. The young quarterback completed 20 of 28 passes (71.4 percent) for 252 yards, earning a passer rating of 99.1.  He became the youngest Giant since 1954 to throw for 250+ yards and a 70+ completion percentage. McCarthy generated a 19.4 percent explosive rate in Week 7, the fourth-highest of his career.

McCarthy had five completions of 20+ yards, matching his career-high that he set in the fourth quarter of last week's loss. His 10 completions of 20+ yards since Week 6 are the second-most in the NFL, and he accomplished this having only played 11 minutes in Week 6.

O-LINE

The Offensive Line

The big guys up front had a strong outing in Week 7. They helped pave the way for the Giants to accumulate a season-high 188 yards and four touchdowns on the ground, including scores from four different players, and an average of 5.5 yards per carry. This came against a Texans run defense that entered Week 7 ranking 3rd in yards, 3rd in yards per attempt and 12th in touchdowns allowed on the ground. It was an impressive performance from the whole group, especially OT Jermaine Eluemunor, who came back from a calf injury that sidelined him last week and had him listed as questionable on the final injury report.

DEVIN-SINGLETARY

RB Devin Singletary

Skattebo wasn't the only Giants running back to find the end zone on Sunday. Tyrone Tracy Jr. got the scoring started for the Giants with a 2-yard touchdown run on the team's first drive of the game. Of course, Singletary had the biggest play of the day when he broke loose for a 30-yard touchdown run in overtime to walk it off for the Giants. The veteran running back finished with 41 yards on five carries and added three receptions for 14 yards.

DEFENSE

The defense

The entire unit deserves a game ball with their performance against a surging Texans offense. C.J. Stroud was limited to just 153 passing yards, the run defense contained them to only 84 yards on 25 carries, and the Texans went just three for 12 on 3rd down.

DEONTE-BANKS

CB Deonte Banks

Banks was primarily tasked with covering Texans star wide receiver Nico Collins, and the fourth-year cornerback did a tremendous job. Banks was matched up against Collins 14 times, which resulted in only one reception for four yards, according to NGS. All four of his targets against Collins were in a tight window, the second-most in a single matchup in his career. Banks recorded another two pass breakups in the win, giving him 10 in just five games this season.

MICAH-MCFADDEN

LB Micah McFadden

With Tremaine Edmunds being placed on injured reserve Saturday, McFadden got his first start since Week 1 of the 2025 season and took advantage of the opportunity. McFadden finished with a team-high 10 solo tackles, two tackles for loss and one quarterback hit as he played a big role in the defense limiting the Texans to just 84 yards on the ground.

ABDUL-CARTER

OLB Abdul Carter

Carter finished with four tackles (two solo), but made his presence felt in the pass rush, where he found himself in the backfield often. The second-year edge rusher generated six pressures, according to Pro Football Focus, and drew several holding penalties on the Texans. Coach John Harbaugh also told the media after the game that Carter gave a speech in the locker room at halftime that seemed to spark the team in the second half.

ARVELL-REESE

LB Arvell Reese

The rookie linebacker put together another strong performance. Reese finished tied for the second-most tackles on the team with seven (five solo) and added a half-sack and one tackle for loss.
