Presser Points: Brian Daboll 'hopeful' for RB Tyrone Tracy Jr.

BRIAN-DABOLL-PRIMEPOINT

The Giants have a short week to prepare for Thursday Night Football against the Eagles, whom they will play twice in 17 days (in between is a trip to Denver).

Coach Brian Daboll met with the media before Tuesday's jog-through practice to preview the matchup against the defending Super Bowl champions, including the latest on the injury front.

Here is everything you need to know.

📰 The following players were listed as "Did Not Participate" on the estimated injury report: wide receiver Darius Slayton (hamstring), right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor (back), and linebackers Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles (hamstring) and Swayze Bozeman (ankle).

📰 Daboll is "hopeful" for running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. (shoulder), who would do more if they were practicing normally. The second-year pro has not played since suffering the injury in the first half of a Week 3 night game against the Chiefs. "Hopefully he'll be able to do something on Thursday night."

📰 Quarterback Jaxson Dart "will be OK" despite being listed as limited on Monday with a hamstring injury. He was full-go on Tuesday.

📰 The Giants will take the decision on injured players up until the end, as they normally do on short weeks.

📰 In case Eluemunor can't play, the Giants could turn to rookie Marcus Mbow. The fifth-round draft choice is next on the depth chart and played extensively at left tackle in Weeks 2 and 3 while Andrew Thomas was getting back up to speed. "He's done a good job. He does a good job, knows his stuff, is on top of his stuff. So we'll see how it goes. I think Jermaine will be OK."

📰 If Slayton is ruled out, the Giants will "probably do something" internally in terms of the roster at wide receiver

📰 Asked about quarterback Dart and running back Cam Skattebo taking ownership of last week's loss, Daboll said they're "true competitors." The same goes for the rest of the rookie class that has seen extensive playing time so far. "They all have the right makeup. I have a lot of confidence in all those guys."

📰 Rookie outside linebacker Abdul Carter doesn't have "a limit in terms of his ability." He has been a "true team player" doing everything asked of him, whether it is getting pressure or dropping into coverage. "He's a hard guy to block. He's had a number of pressures on the quarterback. He's smart. Again, he's played a number of different spots for us. Right mindset. Good young player."

📰 Eagles running back Saquon Barkley had six carries last week, the fewest since he was with the Giants in 2021. Naturally, that leads many to believe it will be a run-heavy attack on Thursday night. "I think you've got to prepare the best you can. You don't know how they're going to play. Obviously, they played a certain way last week. They played a little bit differently, I'd say, weeks before that. But stopping the run will always be important. I'm sure they want to get him the ball as many times as they can. I'm sure they want to get A.J. [Brown] the ball as many times as they can, [DeVonta Smith] the ball as many times as they can. [Dallas] Goedert, I mean, they've got a lot of good football players. Whatever they choose to do is what they're going to do."

📰 The Eagles "do a number of things" off the tush push now. "We're just getting ready for it."

📰 Dart and tight end Theo Johnson have "a lot of confidence" in each other and a good relationship off the field. "I know Jaxson trusts Theo, as he does [tight end Daniel Bellinger]. So, we'll try to keep that going and get some other guys too."

📰 The past three weeks have featured "a lot of firsts" for Dart. This time, it's his first start against a divisional rival at night. "Short week, division game, we've got to get him ready to go."

📰 Like most teams, the Giants put together a video each week of notable plays from around the league and show it to their team on Saturday mornings as teaching points. This week's will certainly include Arizona's Emari Demercado dropping the ball before reaching the goal line on what would have been a touchdown against Tennessee. Instead, it resulted in a touchback.

"A variety of things, situations, challenges, penalties, decisions. We go through a tape on Saturday morning, try to cover our bases with things that have happened throughout the league so that it doesn't happen to us."
