Touchdowns & top plays from Thursday at camp

SIDELINE-VIEW-SAQUON-BARKLEY

The Giants scored both of their touchdowns in the preseason opener from the red zone, which is where the team focused much of their work in Thursday's practice. After a players' day off, the Giants returned to the field leading up to Sunday night's preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals at MetLife Stadium.

Here are the highlights from the padded practice:

TOUCHDOWNS

*The play of the day was a non-touchdown (more on that below), but in terms of finding the end zone, Daniel Jones did so on the ground and through the air. The quarterback, who has exactly 1,000 rushing yards in his career, ran one in from the red zone. Jones later connected with wide receiver C.J. Board for a score.

*Wide receiver Darius Slayton hauled in a touchdown from Tyrod Taylor in the corner of the end zone. Taylor also found Board (twice) and Alex Bachman for touchdowns.

*Davis Webb threw a pair of touchdowns, first to wide receiver Keelan Doss during 7-on-7 drills. He later hooked up with Marcus Kemp during team drills.

*Saquon Barkley had a touchdown run up the middle from the red zone.

TAKEAWAYS

*There was potential for two big defensive plays, but the offense remained clean in the turnover department at the end of the day.

TOP PLAYS

*According to Jones, Kenny Golladay had one of his best practices of camp. The veteran wide receiver showed off his noted ability to make contested catches from all different ranges, but the play of the day was his catch on a deep pass from Jones.

"I thought he made some plays today," Jones said after practice. "I thought we spread the ball around well, and obviously, he had the deep shot, and he made a nice adjustment on, a big play there. I think he's had a good camp, and you know we'll keep working with him."

*Inside linebacker Tae Crowder and safety Yusuf Corker each came close to a Pick-6 but settled for the pass breakup. If they had caught it, there was nothing but green grass in front of them.

*Cornerback Adoree' Jackson timed up a pass perfectly to force an incompletion. It would have been a major hit in live action. Jackson also broke up another pass.

*Outside linebacker Quincy Roche batted a pass at the line of scrimmage.

*Outside linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux, the fifth pick in the draft, found his way into the backfield for a would-be sack on more than one occasion. Defensive lineman Nick Williams also got pressure on a play.

*Wide receiver Collin Johnson made a nice over-the-shoulder catch on the sideline from Jones, who showed his agility to move around the pocket before launching it.

*Doss pulled in a nice back-shoulder catch from Webb.
