Vote LB Ryan Connelly for Pepsi Rookie of the Week

For a second consecutive week, a Giants player has been nominated for Pepsi Rookie of the Week. After quarterback Daniel Jones was nominated for the award last week, linebacker Ryan Connelly is up for the honor following his outstanding performance against the Washington Redskins in Week 4.

Connelly recorded the defense's first turnover of 2019 two weeks ago when he picked off Tampa Bay's Jameis Winston. As an encore, he intercepted a pass from Case Keenum in the first quarter against the Redskins, while adding five tackles and a sack.

Connelly became the first Giants linebacker to record an interception and a sack in the same game since Kawika Mitchell did it at Buffalo on December 23, 2007.

Connelly, who turns 24 on Thursday, unfortunately saw his rookie season end abruptly when he tore his ACL in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game. While his 2019 campaign may be over, the Giants are looking forward to having him back on the field next year.

The other nominees for the Pepsi Rookie of the Week award are Jaguars quarterback Gardner Minshew (19-of-33 for 213 yards, two touchdowns, zero interceptions and a 97.2 passer rating), Titans wide receiver A.J. Brown (three receptions for 94 yards and two touchdowns), Raiders running back Josh Jacobs (17 carries for 79 yards, 4.6-yard avg. and two receptions for 29 yards), and Buccaneers kicker Matt Gay (2-for-2 on field goal attempts, including a 58-yard FG, and a franchise-record 7-for-7 on extra point attempts).

Giants running back Saquon Barkley was named the 2018 Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year after his outstanding debut season.

The Pepsi Rookie of the Week award is decided by a fan vote each week. Make sure to show your support for Big Blue by submitting a vote for Ryan Connelly for this week's honor.
