Wayne Train keeps rolling; vote Gallman for FedEx Ground Player of Week 13

The Wayne Train keeps rolling.

Running back Wayne Gallman continued his breakout season with a career-high 135 yards rushing in the Giants' 17-12 victory over the Seahawks. For his performance, the fourth-year pro has been nominated for the FedEx Ground Player of Week 13.

The other nominees are Green Bay's Aaron Jones (130 yards and one touchdown on 15 carries) and Denver's Melvin Gordon (131 yards on 15 carries).

"This team, everyone wants it," Gallman said after the Giants' fourth consecutive win. "From our coaches, to our owners, to the players, we really want it. We know what we have and we just have to keep on going every week. We can't take any week for granted. We just have to put that work in for the next four weeks that we have and see what happens."

The rushing attack was especially needed in a week when the offense played without starting quarterback Daniel Jones, who is dealing with a hamstring injury. Backup Colt McCoy stepped in and earned his first victory as a starter since 2014.

Overall, the Giants rushed for a season-high 190 yards on 31 carries (6.13 yards per rush). The Giants exceeded 100 rushing yards for the seventh consecutive game, their longest streak since they hit the century mark in nine consecutive games in 2010.

The highlight of Gallman's day was a 60-yard dash midway through the third quarter. It set up an Alfred Morris touchdown run and gave the Giants their first lead of the game, one which they never relinquished. Entering Sunday, Gallman's longest career run was 26 yards.

"The line did their job," Gallman said. "Everybody sealed, I pulled the linebackers in as much as I could and I just hit it. The line has been doing a great job. I credit the coaches. During the week, every week I say we try to get one percent better and we've really done that. Big credit to the offensive line."

For 18 years, FedEx has recognized the NFL quarterbacks and running backs delivering the best performances for their fans and teammates each week.

With support from FedEx, Direct Relief will provide an emergency medical backpack to a local community clinic or health center in the markets of the winning quarterback (FedEx Air Player of the Week) and running back (FedEx Ground Player of the Week). The backpack will help them take care of 500 people in the community.

In 2018, Giants running back Saquon Barkley was named the FedEx Ground Player of the Year after leading the NFL with 2,028 scrimmage yards. He joined Pro Football Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson (2,212 scrimmage yards in 1983) and Edgerrin James (2,139 in 1999) as the only rookies with at least 2,000 scrimmage yards in NFL history.
