Monday October 12

3:30 p.m. -- Speaking again to reporters the day after the tie, John Harbaugh said the Giants may have unlocked something with the offense in the second half. Led by QB Jameis Winston, they erased a 14-point deficit in the fourth quarter and scored two touchdowns in the final eight minutes of regulation.

"We've been talking about some of the tempo stuff," the head coach said. "We've been working on that. It's been part of our system from day one, really. It's something we built in from the beginning. And it was good to get to it. We've been talking about getting to it. We got to it maybe because we had to. Maybe you're right. Maybe game flow forced us to do it, but it was a good thing in that sense. So yeah, it opened up the offense. It was good to see, and it probably needs to be part of what we're doing going forward."

RT Jermaine Eluemunor (calf), CB Colton Hood (concussion) and S Tyler Nubin (neck) left Sunday's game with injuries. "The three main guys are going to be day-to-day this week," Harbaugh said. "They'll have a chance for the game. We'll just have to see how it goes throughout the course of the week."

Bryan Hudson made his second consecutive start – the first two of his career – in place of John Michael Schmitz at center. Harbaugh said Hudson will again be the starter in Week 6 against New Orleans.

"He played well," Harbaugh said. "He played well. He played well in the game the week before and he played well in this past game. Things he can do better, but things he did really well and that's what we based it on."

Harbaugh added, "JMS will still be in the plans."

GIANTS-TIE

4:49 p.m. -- The New York Giants and Washington Commanders played to a 27-27 draw at Northwest Stadium. It was the third time the Giants and Commanders have played a game that ended in a tie. That is tied with the Packers and Vikings for the most since the NFL added overtime in 1974. In total, it marked the 35th tie in Giants history.

The Giants sit atop the NFC East through five weeks and would have stayed there regardless of Sunday's outcome. Earlier in the day, the two-time defending division champion Eagles lost a wild one of their own in London, where they had taken a one-point lead with eight seconds left only to see Jacksonville return the ensuing kickoff 53 yards and kick a 57-yard field goal for a 19-17 win. Philadelphia, along with Dallas on Thursday night, fell to 2-3 on the season. The Giants, on the other hand, improved to 3-1-1 while the Commanders dropped to 1-3-1.

Up next is a home game against the New Orleans Saints, who fell to 1-4 with a 23-13 loss to the undefeated Minnesota Vikings. After that, the Giants travel to Houston for their last game before the bye week.

Other notes from Week 5:

QB Jameis Winston, making his third consecutive start in place of the injured Jaxson Dart, became the first Giant since 1950 to account for at least 300 passing yards, three touchdown passes and 25 rushing yards in the same game. and 25+ rushing yards in the same game.

WR Malik Nabers and TE Isaiah Likely each had 11 receptions, at least 90 receiving yards, and a receiving touchdown. According to NFL Research, they are just the sixth teammate duo to each accomplish those numbers in a game in NFL history, but just the second wide receiver/tight end duo to do so. The only other was Justin Jefferson and T.J. Hockenson in Week 16, 2022 for the Vikings.

CB Dru Phillips became the fifth Giants defensive back since 1982 (when sacks became an official statistic) to record at least two sacks in a game. The others were Bill Currier (1982 vs. St. Louis), Jason Sehorn (1996 vs. Minnesota), Tito Wooten (1998 vs. Philadelphia) and Jason Pinnock (2024 at Washington).

Over the last 30 seasons, LB Arvell Reese is the only Giant to reach 40+ tackles in the first five games of his NFL career.

The inactives were RB Devin Singletary, OL J.C. Davis, DL Bobby Jamison-Travis, S Jason Pinnock (concussion), CB Nikko Reed and QB Jake Haener (3rd QB). DL Chauncey Golston (neck) was placed on injured reserve.

TYLER-SHOUGH

3:53 p.m. -- The Saints fell to the Vikings, 23-13, at the Caesars Superdome. It was their third consecutive loss (all at home), dropping them to 1-4 on the season. The Saints' lone victory came in Week 2 at Baltimore. Legendary Saints quarterback Drew Brees, who was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame this year, will be the color analyst for Fox's Week 6 broadcast of Giants vs. Saints.
