SAFETY JEROMY MILES**

Let's just say if the Giants were playing a live game with live contact, the opposing receivers would have heard the footsteps of Jeromy Miles coming over the middle today. However, this is training camp, and Miles had to settle for cheers from his fellow defensive backs who saw the impending collisions never actually come to fruition. Yet Miles, who played for current defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo when he was a defensive assistant and secondary coach in Baltimore, made his presence known on a day won by the defense.

"There was a comfort level there, when you know people, I knew what kind of effort you were going to get from Jeromy," Spagnuolo said before practice. "I know he's a pro, I know he works at it, I know he studies the game. I think that's all been evident."

If it feels like Odell Beckham Jr. is on this list after every practice, it's because he is most of the time. And rightfully so. Monday was another practice where he and quarterback Eli Manning continued to build their chemistry on the field. Beckham made a handful of grabs all over the field yet again, including some nifty catches in the end zone during 1-on-1 drills. Two strong practices in a row will start to take the bad taste out of their mouths from the preseason opener when the first-team offense with Manning managed just 28 yards on 15 plays.

"We have a 24-hour rule, so the window has passed," Beckham said. "That game is over. You can't really think about it; you just move forward and learn from your mistakes."

Like Miles, middle linebacker Jon Beason's physicality was on display today as the ninth-year pro has been running around like a rookie, according to Spagnuolo. Beason, an immediate leader on the defense, has been anxious to get back to football after injuries limited him to just four games last season.

"I love working with him," Spagnuolo said. "I watched him out here yesterday, and coming off a game, having a day off, and everybody being sore, it's a little sluggish. I felt we were sluggish yesterday, but you watch Jon Beason, and he was flying around like a rookie. And good for him. I pointed that out in the meeting, and all the other guys need to follow suit. I love working with him."
