EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Giants announced today they have signed rookie cornerback Madre Harper, who spent the season's first three weeks on the Las Vegas Raiders' practice squad.

Harper joined the Raiders as an undrafted free agent on May 5. He was waived by Las Vegas on Sept. 4, 2020 and signed to the team's practice squad two days later. He terminated his practice squad contract Tuesday so he would be cleared to sign with the Giants after passing COVID protocols and his physical.

Harper played two years at Southern Illinois after transferring from Oklahoma State. He played in 21 games with 15 starts with the Salukis. Harper's two-season totals included 88 tackles (72 solo), one tackle for loss, a half-sack, two interceptions, 20 passes defensed and one forced fumble.

As a senior in 2019, Harper played in a career-high 11 games with 10 starts and posted 42 tackles (30 solo), 1 tackle for loss, two interceptions and 14 passes defensed. Harper was named All-Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC) honorable mention

Harper joins a group of cornerbacks that includes James Bradberry, who leads the NFL with nine passes defensed, Isaac Yiadom, Darnay Holmes, Corey Ballentine and Ryan Lewis.
