The new era of Giants football ratcheted up a notch on Wednesday.

With fewer than 50 days until Week 1, the New York Giants kicked off training camp at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center. To preview the road ahead, general manager Joe Schoen and coach Brian Daboll addressed the media before the team took the field for the first time since spring.

Here is everything you need to know:

Daboll: “It’s really the start of football season.” They took care of some logistical meetings yesterday and now it’s time to hit the field.

Schoen said they’re looking forward to building continuity with getting back some receivers who weren’t out there in the spring.

Asked about expectations for the Giants, Daboll said “you’ve got to take care of today.”

Daboll said Saquon had a really good spring. He did really well in the conditioning test. “It’s good to work with him.”

Schoen said the plan is for the first practice with pads to be on Monday.

Daboll said Azeez had a little “ding” with the hamstring injury. Otherwise, there was a detailed plan with the rehab guys in the spring.

Daboll said Toney has been great. He’s done the rehab he’s needed to do and has worked hard in the meeting room. “The plan was in place.” He’s good to go.

Schoen said his philosophy is to be around the players as much as possible and get to know them as human beings. It’s not just “transactional.”

Schoen said they were happy to add Andrew Adams. People who were in the building when he was here the first time spoke highly of him.

Daboll said the plan this spring was to have the fewest red non-contact jerseys as possible when camp came around so they could hit the ground running.

Daboll said Shep’s rehab is going well and he is day to day. He also said Nick Gates’ rehab has been “unbelievable.” His mindset has been “remarkable.” Schoen said when he first got here he was just concerned about Gates’ health as a person, not just as a player.
