EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Giants today filled the opening on their roster by signing defensive back Rashaan Gaulden off their practice squad, which he joined on Dec. 4.

Gaulden, 6-1 and 200 pounds, played in 24 games in two seasons with the Carolina Panthers, including nine this year, most recently on Nov. 24 at New Orleans. He was released the following day.

Gaulden was credited with 14 tackles (10 solo) and returned one punt for the Panthers. He was a 2018 third-round draft choice (85th overall) by Carolina, from the University of Tennessee.

Gaulden fills the roster spot that was created when cornerback Janoris Jenkins was waived/injured last week.

The Giants also signed defensive end Kevin Wilkins to their practice squad. Wilkins, who played at Rutgers, is 6-2 and 304 pounds. He was signed as a rookie free agent by the Philadelphia Eagles on May 9 and waived on Aug. 31. Wilkins was on the Eagles' practice squad from Dec. 3-10.
