Touchdowns & top plays from OTA No. 9

JUJU-SMITH-SCHUSTER-BOBS

It was a beautiful day at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center as the Giants stepped onto the field for OTA No. 9.

It has been a busy week in East Rutherford. The Giants made a string of roster moves involving their wide receiver room earlier in the week, along with some changes to their group of specialists.

Following the session, coach John Harbaugh, along with wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., defensive lineman DJ Reader, and offensive lineman Jermaine Eluemunor, met with the media.

The team wraps up OTAs on Thursday before their spring program concludes next week with the three-day mandatory minicamp.

Here is everything you need to know from OTA No. 9.

New vets on the block

The newest additions to the wide receiver room were on the field Wednesday as Odell Beckham Jr., JuJu Smith-Schuster and Braxton Berrios all got their hands on the ball during team drills.

Berrios got things started with catches on back-to-back plays, with the first one coming from Jaxson Dart. The second-year quarterback stepped up in the pocket with pressure coming from behind him and hit Berrios on a cross route for a first down. Soon after, Jameis Winston hit Berrios up the seam for a solid gain.

Beckham then got involved with an impressive grab over the middle. The veteran wideout was able to adjust to a ball thrown behind him on a crossing route as he went full extension to pluck the ball out of the air and secure it for a first down.

Smith-Schuster finished the day with a few catches, as well, including one from each quarterback. The first one came on a slant for a first down from Brandon Allen. Later on during 7-on-7s, Smith-Schuster caught a pass from Dart after the young quarterback moved out of the pocket and hit him on the run. He added a third catch later during 11-on-11s on a short pass over the middle from Winston.

Touchdowns

The offense did not do much work in the red zone on Wednesday, but the unit was still able to get into the end zone on a couple of occasions. The first one came from Brandon Allen after pressure forced him to scramble out of the pocket to his right. The veteran then uncorked a deep pass downfield to Xavier Gipson, who got himself wide open and was able to walk into the end zone for the touchdown.

The second touchdown also came on a deep throw, this time from Jameis Winston, who scrambled out of the pocket and threw on the run, connecting with Calvin Austin III deep down the sideline. Austin then won a foot race to the goal line for the touchdown.

Reese shows off pass rushing skills

A couple of members of the 2026 draft class came up with some big plays, starting with the first player to hear his named called in Round 1. Linebacker Arvell Reese has put a little bit of everything on display over his first few weeks of NFL practices, and on Wednesday, he showed off his abilities as a pass rusher. Reese came screaming around the edge on one play during 11-on-11s for a would-be sack. This came a few plays after the rookie, along with Abdul Carter, Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux, all came together for a pressure and possible sack in the backfield.

Rookie sixth-round pick Bobby Jamison-Travis also had a strong play towards the very end of practice when the team was running situational drills. The offense was facing a third down passing situation, and the first-year defensive lineman stuck his arms up and batted down a pass at the line of scrimmage to force a field goal attempt.

Other notable plays

Deonte Banks put together a strong performance during Wednesday's practice. It started with some sticky coverage on a deep pass up the sideline, where the young corner was able to force an incompletion. Banks then ran it back with another forced incompletion deep down the field in the final period of team drills.

Jaxson Dart and Darnell Mooney connected for one of the more impressive catches of the day early in the session. Mooney was able to get a step on the defender up the sideline before Dart placed a perfectly thrown ball between the defender and the sideline, which Mooney brought in for a big gain.

Ar'Darius Washington, Elijah Campbell, Raheem Layne and Micah McFadden each got their hands on the ball to break up passes at various points. McFadden also registered a pressure earlier when he forced the quarterback to get rid of the ball quicker than he would have wanted.
