Eli Manning's 'Chad Powers' set to become Hulu series

Since retiring from the NFL over four years ago, Eli Manning has thrived as a media personality.

Perhaps his funniest endeavor since hanging up his cleats was Manning's portrayal of Chad Powers on an episode of 'Eli's Places'.

With head coach With James Franklin's blessing, Manning went undercover to try out for the Penn State football team. He participated in the full tryout before the Nittany Lions' head coach jokingly revealed to the group that the 41-year-old was in fact not eligible.

Five months later, it was announced that we have not seen the last of Mr. Chad Powers, as Hulu is turning Manning's character into a half-hour comedy show.

"Glen Powell (Anyone But You) will star in the series that follows a hotshot quarterback whose college career ends after bad behavior," the announcement on Deadline states. "He then disguises himself as the talented and affable Chad Powers, who walks onto a struggling Southern football team. Co-creators and executive producers are Powell and Michael Waldron (Loki), who also wrote the pilot. It hails from 20th Television and will stream on Hulu."

Manning, along with Omaha Productions and ESPN, will serve as executive producers of the new show.

"The love for Chad Powers has surprised me in spectacular ways," said Manning in a statement. "I played 16 years in the NFL, but now when I'm in a restaurant or walking through an airport, it's not uncommon for fans to scream, 'Hey Chad!' I'm so excited to team up with my friends Glen Powell, Michael Waldron and Omaha Productions to continue to tell the Chad Powers story and see what he does next."

"We're both diehard college football fans," said Powell and Waldron in a joint statement. "When we saw Eli as Chad Powers, we knew that was the way into a big, fun story about this world. We're excited to be part of this team, and can't wait to get Chad in the game. Think fast, run fast."

Upon the news being announced, Manning took to Twitter to joke with the Top Gun: Maverick star.
