TEAM NOTES:

The Giants captured a 27-21 victory over the Houston Texans in overtime to improve to 4-2-1. It marks the first overtime win by the Giants since 10/3/21 at New Orleans.

The Giants have won six straight games against the Texans, the franchise's first ever six-game winning streak against an AFC opponent.

The Giants offense has scored at least 27 points in four straight games, the longest streak of scoring 27+ points since 2010 (also four games).

OFFENSE NOTES:

QB J.J. McCarthy started his first game as a New York Giant and completed 20-of-28 passes (71.4 completion percentage) for 252 yards and a passer rating of 99.1.

McCarthy's 71.4 completion percentage was the second highest by a Giants quarterback making their first start with the team, trailing only Bobby Clattebuck's 77.3 completion percentage on 12/5/54.

His 252 passing yards are the fifth-most by a Giants quarterback in their first start.

RB Cam Skattebo rushed 17 times for a career-high 124 yards (7.3 yards per carry) and 1 touchdown. It marked the most by a Giant since Tyrone Tracy Jr. had 145 yards at Pittsburgh on 10/28/24.

Skattebo's 16-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter was the longest rushing score of his career.

The Giants had four different players (QB Jameis Winston, RB Cam Skattebo, RB Tyrone Tracy Jr. and RB Devin Singletary) rush for a touchdown. The last time the Giants had four different players  score on a rushing attempt in the same game was on 12/3/1950 vs. the New York Yanks (Bob Jackson, Charlie Conerly, Choo-Choo Roberts and Eddie Price).

WR Malik Nabers recorded 7 catches for 111 yards, making it his fourth straight game with 100+ receiving yards. WR Odell Beckham Jr. is the only other Giant in franchise history to surpass 100 receiving yards in four consecutive games. He did it twice in his career, going four straight games in 2014 and six straight games in 2015.

Nabers has 175 receptions for his career, the second-most by any Giant through their first 26 career games, trailing only Odell Beckham Jr., who had 182 receptions in his first 26 games.

TE Isaiah Likely caught 2 passes for 12 yards. Likely has caught 41 passes in his first seven career games with the Giants, making him the third tight end in NFL history to surpass 40 receptions in his first seven games with a team, joining Las Vegas' Brock Bowers (seven games) and Philadelphia's Keith Jackson (seven games).

DEFENSE NOTES:

ILB Arvell Reese totaled 7 tackles, 1 tackle for loss and a half-sack.

Reese has 54 career total tackles, making him the only Giant since 1994 (when tackles became official) to surpass 50 career tackles in his first seven career games.

CB Deonte Banks recorded 2 total tackles and 2 passes defensed,

Banks has 10 passes defensed through seven games this season. The last time a Giant had at least 10 passes defensed in the first seven games of a season was James Bradberry (11) in 2020.
