THE GAME:

  • The Giants and Cowboys traded fields to begin the game. Giants K Ben Sauls hit from 45 yards out, while Cowboys K Brandon Aubrey made one from 22 yards.
  • Sauls' 45-yarder was the longest make by a Giants rookie kicker since Matt Bryant made a 47-yard field goal vs. Seattle on 9/22/02.
  • Sauls gave the Giants a 6-3 lead after hitting a 35-yard field goal late in the first quarter.
  • The Cowboys scored the first touchdown on the day, a 14-yard run by RB Jaydon Blue. The touchdown gave Dallas a 10-6 lead at the end of the first quarter.
  • Sauls added a 23-yard field goal, making it a 10-9 game in favor of the Cowboys with 9:45 remaining in the second quarter.
  • The Giants took a 16-10 lead with 20 seconds remaining in the half when QB Jaxson Dart found TE Daniel Bellinger on a 29-yard touchdown pass.
  • Dart extended the Giants' lead, 22-10, hitting RB Tyrone Tracy Jr. on a 12-yard touchdown pass. Following a penalty on Dallas, the Giants elected for a 2-point attempt. RB Devin Singletary took a direct snap and completed a pass to WR Darius Slayton, giving the Giants a 24-10 lead.
  • Dallas cut the deficit to 24-17 on a 1-yard rushing touchdown by RB Phil Mafah at the beginning of the fourth quarter.
  • Sauls extended the Giants' lead, 27-17, on a 30-yard field goal midway through the fourth quarter.
  • He is the first Giants rookie with 4 field goals in a game since Matt Bryant had 4 field goals vs. Washington on 11/17/02.
  • Singletary scored on a 6-yard run with 5:47 left in the fourth quarter, giving the Giants a 34-17 lead, which they would hold the rest of the game. The Giants finished the season 4-13 and snapped a nine-game losing streak to the Cowboys.

NOTES TO KNOW:

  • QB Jaxson Dart completed 22-of-32 passes (68.8%) for 230 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also rushed for 32 yards on 5 carries.
  • Dart finished this season with the 2nd-most passing yards (2,272) by a Giants rookie in franchise history. He surpassed Charlie Conerly (2,175 yards in 1948) in today's game.
  • Dart totaled 24 touchdowns this season, the 3rd-most by a rookie in franchise history behind Daniel Jones (26 in 2019) and Charlie Conerly (27 in 1948).
  • Dart had 10 games this season with 2+ touchdowns, tied with Andrew Luck (2012), Russell Wilson (2012), Dak Prescott (2016), Jayden Daniels (2024) and Bo Nix (2024) for the 3rd-most games with 2+ offensive touchdowns by a rookie since 2000.
  • RB Tyrone Tracy Jr. rushed 18 times for 103 yards and caught 8 passes for 56 yards and 1 touchdown.
  • Tracy finished the season with 1,028 yards from scrimmage, making him the third player in franchise history to have 1,000+ scrimmage yards in each of his first two seasons, joining Odell Beckham Jr. (2014-15) and Saquon Barkley (2018-19).
  • WR Gunner Olszewski set single-game career highs in receptions (8) and receiving yards (102).
  • ILB Bobby Okereke recorded 6 tackles, 1 interception, 1 fumble recovery and 1 pass defensed. He is the first Giant with a fumble recovery and an interception in a game since S Dane Belton vs. the Rams on 12/31/23.
  • Okereke finished the season with 143 tackles, the 4th-most ever by a Giant. He is the only Giant in franchise history with multiple seasons with 140+ tackles.
  • Okereke produced an interception in back-to-back games, making him the first Giant since Darnay Holmes in 2023 (11/12/23-11/19/23) to record an interception in consecutive games.
  • The Giants' offense rushed for 22 touchdowns this season, the 3rd-most in franchise history behind only the 1985 team (24 touchdowns) and the 1930 team (27 touchdowns).
  • They've also rushed for 100+ yards in nine consecutive games, the longest streak by the franchise since 2010 (9/12/10-11/14/10, also nine games).
  • OLB Brian Burns totaled 2 tackles, 1 tackle for loss and 1 quarterback hit. His season total of 31 quarterback hits is the most by any Giant since that statistic started being tracked in 2006.
  • K Ben Sauls made all 4 field goals he attempted, including a long of 45.
  • Sauls' 31 points in his first three career games are the most by a Giants kicker since 1970.
