They're halfway there.

The New York Giants held their fifth of the allotted 10 organized team practice activities (OTAs) on Wednesday at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center. Coach Brian Daboll and players also met with the media as the action continues to ramp up.

Here are highlights from OTA No. 5:

TOUCHDOWNS

🔹 Daniel Jones threw a pair of touchdowns from close range late in practice, first to Isaiah Hodgins and secondly to Darius Slayton. The speed of the offense was a topic of conversation during the media sessions.

"Kind of selfishly as a speed guy, I lean towards other speed guys," Slayton said. "I like watching people flying around fast. We've got a lot of them now. Parris [Campbell] was a 4.30 guy. Jeff Smith was a 4.2 guy, low 4.3 guy. And [Jalin] Hyatt obviously could fly. I could fly. You turn on the film, it's a whole lot of flying. I mean, it's fun to watch, fun to play with guys like that."

While some bring speed to the table, Hodgins and Collin Johnson can provide a change-up with their size and physicality. Then, as Slayton said, Darren Waller just has it all.

"They don't know where it's coming from," Slayton said of all the weapons. "You've got me or Jalin or Parris or any of our guys. Darren is huge but can fly. It's like you've got all these guys flying at you; you've got to guard somebody. I think for us it, it puts us all in an advantage situation."

🔹 Tyrod Taylor also threw a short touchdown to Kalil Pimpleton, but that wasn't the wide receiver's big play of the day. More on that later.

TAKEAWAYS

🔹 The offense hadn't turned the ball over since the first OTA, but cornerback Zyon Gilbert put the defense back on the board with an interception today. Gilbert played in three games as an undrafted rookie in 2022 and recorded 14 tackles, including a sack. He made one start in the Giants' Week 13 tie with the Commanders.

TOP PLAYS

🔹 With the offense wearing white on Wednesday, Johnson had his No. 15 called frequently out there. The productive outing was another good sign for the 6-foot-6-, 220 pounder who suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in training camp last year.

🔹 The long play of the day was credited to Pimpleton, who hauled in a deep pass from Jones over his shoulder.

🔹 Jones found Waller for a big gain, adding to the buzz the two have created with their rapport.

🔹 Rookie Deonte Banks and Adoree' Jackson broke up passes as they have taken on a mentee and mentor relationship.

"I'm excited," Jackson said. "I think about when I was in Tennessee, and I had Logan Ryan being able to help me and mentor me. And the following year, I had Malcolm Butler. I always think of it as an added benefit to us as a whole, not just the defense but the team as a whole. So, I'm excited, watched [Banks'] tape. Like him. Watched him go through the walk-throughs, different things. Talked to him. He's got a good head on his shoulder. Seems like a great guy. I was excited to get Banks."
