20 Questions in 20 Days: Latest injury statuses

20-QUESTIONS-JULY-15

Giants.com is counting down the start of training camp with 20 questions in 20 days.

13) What are the injury statuses to know heading into camp?

Matt Citak: The biggest injury question mark heading into training camp is the status of star wide receiver Malik Nabers. After suffering a season-ending knee injury during last year's Week 4 matchup against the Chargers, Nabers missed spring practices as he continued to progress through his rehab. The soon-to-be 23-year-old planned on spending most of his time leading up to camp in the building working through the injury, according to his head coach.

"He's going to be here a lot working really hard," John Harbaugh said during last month's minicamp. "He's making really good progress right now. I'm very hopeful that he'll be back soon. Also, understand when you come back from a knee, he'll be back, and he'll still be building his way back to his ultimate full strength self. But he's doing great. He's doing a great job. He's made some real good progress in the last few weeks…

"It's a slog, it's a grind. He's still in the middle of it. He's probably not in the middle of it now. He's probably maybe 70 percent through. I don't know, something like that, 80 percent through. He's still grinding. It's going to be a grind when he starts playing again too to get back right."

Running back Cam Skattebo was another big name that did not participate in most of the offseason workout program. However, the second-year back was on the field for some individual drills throughout the spring before taking part in a few snaps during team drills at minicamp.

"I'm confident Cam will be back," Harbaugh said during minicamp. "He's working hard. You saw him out there taking team reps. That was during the team period. That was really good to see."

In addition to the two offensive playmakers, Harbaugh provided updates on a few other players before the team broke for the summer in mid-June.

TE Thomas Fidone II: "Fidone, he's still coming back from the foot thing. He had a little deal with that thing in there. It got cleaned up yesterday or today. It's like a two-week cleanup. So he should be good for training camp. Fingers crossed on that one."

DL Sam Roberts: "Sam Roberts is on track. He should be there in training camp. Start of training camp to a degree and then ramp up from the start of training camp."

WR Beaux Collins: "Beaux is dealing with a hamstring that he's working through. He should be fine."

We'll get some more updates the first day Harbaugh speaks at training camp in less than two weeks, so stay tuned.
