Presser Points: Giants prepare for rematch with Eagles

BRIAN-DABOLL-PRIMEPOINT

The Giants will look for their first season sweep of the Eagles since 2007 and can do it in an 18-day span.

After defeating the defending Super Bowl champions 34-17 at home on Thursday Night Football in Week 6, preparations are underway for Sunday's rematch in Philadelphia. In between, the Giants gave up 33 points in the fourth quarter of a 33-32 loss in Denver and fell to 2-5 on the season. The Eagles, meanwhile, improved to 5-2 after they broke a two-game losing streak with a victory in Minnesota.

Here's what you need to know from the Wednesday presser.

📰 Outside linebacker Brian Burns, safety Jevón Holland, cornerback Paulson Adebo and defensive lineman Chancey Golston will not practice due to injury. "We'll see where they are on a day-to-day, if you will."

📰 Wide receiver Darius Slayton, who has missed the last two games with a hamstring injury, returned to practice.

📰 Kicker Graham Gano was designated for return from injured reserve and returned to practice. "If Graham's ready to go, Graham will be the kicker." The Giants also have veteran kicker Younghoe Koo on the practice squad.

📰 The trainers "feel comfortable" about what Gano has been able to do and that's why the Giants are opening the 21-day window to activate him. "He is progressing in the right direction. So we'll see in a couple days here how it goes, and then make a decision, what we need to do."

📰 Jalen Hurts is coming off the third perfect passer rating performance (158.3, minimum 20 attempts) in Eagles history. DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown also combined for 304 yards and three touchdowns in that game. "It's an explosive offense. I said that the first time we played them, and it showed up in the Minnesota game against a really good defense. They have a perfect quarterback rating. Not many guys that can do that. Jalen certainly did."

📰 Without Malik Nabers, the Giants have asked Wan'Dale Robinson to do "a lot of different things." They have also used tight ends more than they have in the past few years. "Spreading the ball around, we'll see what happens here."

📰 Deonte Banks has to be ready to play if Adebo can't suit up. "Tae is working hard, doing everything he can."

📰 Dart is "good to go" for Sunday. The good ones Daboll has been around are "usually the toughest ones too, mentally and physically, on the team." Dart is a "tough guy."

📰 Sunday will be the first time Dart faces the same defensive twice – and vice versa. Daboll has a "tremendous amount of respect" for Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, who had high praise for Dart in his press conference this week in Philadelphia. "He's done a great job in this league for a long time. I can't answer what he would do or what he wouldn't do. You watch your game, you see how they played you. [Defensive tackle Jalen] Carter's back. Does that make a difference relative to the scheme and what they want to do? I don't know. I just know that Vic's a challenging coordinator to game plan against. Again, Jaxson's played a good amount of football in his career. These last four weeks, he's got a routine down, and we do everything we can do to get him ready to play."
