Tight End University kicks off; four Giants attending

For the fifth consecutive year, current and former tight ends from across the NFL will gather in Nashville for Tight End University.

The Giants will be well-represented at this year's festivities with Theo Johnson, Daniel Bellinger, Thomas Fidone II and Chris Manhertz all scheduled to attend. Of that group, Bellinger is returning for his fourth straight appearance at the summit for tight ends.

"Founded in 2021 by NFL Tight Ends George Kittle, Travis Kelce and Greg Olsen, Tight End University was created to bring the Tight End community together for an immersive three-day program," it states on the Tight End University website. "Over the course of the summit, attendees are able to bond, collaborate with, and learn amongst their peers while participating in a variety of activities including film study, on-field drills, recovery, rehabilitation, and more. In addition to current players, TEU also features several retired legends who provide attendees with the invaluable opportunity to learn from some of the best to ever play the game."

Johnson is coming off a rookie season in which he caught 29 receptions for 331 yards and a touchdown in 12 games before his season ended early due to a foot injury. However, the 6-foot-6 tight end was starting to pick things up prior to the injury, as he registered 35+ receiving yards in each of his last five games, including a season-high five receptions for 54 yards in his final outing. His yards still ranked third among rookie tight ends, while his 29 receptions ranked fourth.

Bellinger finished with just 14 receptions for 125 yards in his third season, while Manhertz added three receptions for 30 yards and a touchdown. The nine-year veteran served more as a blocking tight end in his first season with the Giants last year, and performed well in that protection role.

Meanwhile, in his final season at Nebraska, Fidone, a seventh-round selection in this year's draft, set new personal high marks with 36 receptions for 373 yards across 13 games. The rookie finished with the sixth-highest athleticism score at this year's NFL Combine, according to Next Gen Stats, and is now several years removed from his consecutive ACL injuries.

The tight end room is rounded out by veteran Greg Dulcich and undrafted rookie free agent Jermaine Terry II.
