Touchdowns & top plays from OTA No. 3

ARVELL-REESE-BOBS

The first week of OTAs is officially complete.

The Giants wrapped up the first few days of Phase 3 of the offseason workout program on Thursday with practice in front of the media.

Head coach John Harbaugh and several players then spoke to reporters before the team left for the holiday weekend. Practice will resume next Wednesday with OTA No. 4.

Here is everything you need to know from Thursday's session.

Touchdowns

Most of the team drills took place on the far end of the field, although the Giants did have one period in the high red zone (just inside the 20-yard line). It was during this period that Jaxson Dart found running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. in the flat, and the third-year back was able to just barely beat out linebacker Arvell Reese in a race to the goal line for the only touchdown of the day.

Takeaways

The defense made several strong plays during team drills, but the unit's one takeaway came during 7-on-7s. Safety Beau Brade made a nice play on the ball as he came across the middle and jumped in front of the receiver for an interception down field. Brade took it the other way and made it 30+ yards before he likely would have been taken down.

Notable

It may have only been his third full NFL practice, but Arvell Reese was all over the field. It started with very strong coverage during 7-on-7 drills, where he ran step for step with Devin Singletary on a wheel route to force an incompletion. Later during 11-on-11s, Reese sniffed out a screen pass to Tracy for what would have been a loss of a few yards. The No. 5 overall pick has put his speed and athleticism on full display over this first week of OTAs.

Towards the end of 7-on-7s, Dart connected on a couple of nice passes, one to tight end Tanner Connor across the middle and one to wide receiver Ryan Miller towards the sideline.

Brandon Allen threaded the needle on a throw during 7-on-7 drills, hitting Isaiah Hodgins for a big gain. The veteran quarterback had a strong practice as he later hit Connor over the middle for a first down. Allen also connected with wide receiver Malachi Fields on a pass towards the sideline, sneaking the ball through a couple of defenders.

Several defenders made some notable plays, as well. Paulson Adebo broke up a pass during situation period early in practice and later had strong coverage on a route up the seam to force an incompletion during 7-on-7s.

Linebacker Tremaine Edmunds had what would have been a sack during 11-on-11 drills, as did outside linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux later on during the high red zone period.

In addition to his interception earlier in practice, Beau Brade also got his hands on the ball to force an incompletion near the goal line during the final team period.
