The New York Giants have signed wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster.
In a corresponding move, kicker Jason Sanders has been released.
The veteran wideout has played 121 games with 92 starts across nine NFL seasons. Smith-Schuster has spent time with the Pittsburgh Steelers (2017-21), Kansas City Chiefs (2022), New England Patriots (2023) and a second stint with the Chiefs (2024-25). His career totals include 481 receptions for 5,624 yards and 33 touchdowns, with an additional 35 receptions for 353 yards and two touchdowns in nine postseason games.
Originally a second-round pick (No. 62 overall) in the 2017 NFL Draft, Smith-Schuster played in 14 games with seven starts as a rookie for the Steelers. He finished his first season with 58 receptions for 917 yards and seven touchdowns, which led to him being named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team.
The 6-foot-1, 215-pound receiver followed that up with his best season in 2018, when he caught a career-high 111 receptions for 1,426 yards and seven touchdowns and was named to the Pro Bowl.
In his first season with the Chiefs, Smith-Schuster caught 78 passes for 933 yards and three touchdowns. He added 10 receptions for 89 yards in three playoff games as the Chiefs went on to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII.
During his three seasons with the Chiefs, Smith-Schuster overlapped with Giants offensive coordinator Matt Nagy, who was on Andy Reid's coaching staff. Nagy was the senior assistant and quarterbacks coach in 2022, but served as offensive coordinator in Smith-Schuster's final two years in Kansas City.
Prior to being drafted, Smith-Schuster played three seasons at USC. He finished his collegiate career with 213 catches for 3,092 yards and 25 touchdowns. He was twice named second-team All-Pac-12 (2014, 2016), but his best year came in 2015. Smith-Schuster brought in 89 receptions for 1,454 yards and 10 touchdowns on his way to being named second-team All-American and first-team All-Pac-12.
The Smith-Schuster signing comes one day after the Giants signed veteran wide receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and Braxton Berrios.
With Sanders released, the Giants now have two kickers on the roster: second-year pro Ben Sauls and undrafted rookie Dominic Zvada.
