THE GAME:

  • The Giants scored on the game's opening possession. QB Jameis Winston found WR Wan'Dale Robinson on a 39-yard touchdown pass to give the Giants a 7-0 lead. On the play, Winston pitched the ball to RB Devin Singletary, who threw the ball back to Winston. It was Winston's first touchdown pass as a Giant.
  • The Giants scored on their opening possession for the sixth time this season, the most in a single season since 2007, when they also scored on six opening possessions.
  • The touchdown reception by Robinson was his 3rd this season, tying his single-season career-high from 2024.
  • The Giants added a 21-yard field goal from K Younghoe Koo to give them a 10-0 lead as time expired in the first quarter.
  • The Lions made it 10-7 after QB Jared Goff found WR Amon-Ra St. Brown on an 11-yard touchdown pass with 11:41 remaining in the second quarter.
  • The Giants extended their lead to 17-7 when Winston found WR Isaiah Hodgins on a 12-yard touchdown pass.
  • The touchdown was set up by a 42-yard catch and run by RB Tyrone Tracy Jr., the longest reception of his career.
  • Detroit responded, making it 17-14, as Goff found RB Jahmyr Gibbs on a 3-yard touchdown pass.
  • Koo extended the Giants lead to 20-14 on a 44-yard field goal with 38 seconds remaining in the half. The Lions responded as K Jake Bates made a 37-yard field as time expired, making it 20-17 at the half.
  • The Giants extended their lead early in the fourth quarter, 27-17, on a 33-yard touchdown pass from WR Gunner Olszewski to QB Jameis Winston.
  • It was the first pass attempt by Olszewski in his career, as well as Winston's first career reception. It marked the first touchdown pass caught by a Giants quarterback since at least 1940. It was also the longest touchdown reception by any quarterback since Marcus Mariota caught a 41-yard touchdown pass on 12/13/15.
  • The Lions responded with a 49-yard touchdown run by Gibbs, making it 27-24 with 10:50 left in the game.
  • Detroit tied the game with 33 seconds remaining in the game on a Bates 59-yard field goal. The Giants were unable to respond, sending the game to overtime.
  • Gibbs added another rushing score, this one from 69 yards out, on the first play of overtime. The Lions ultimately won, 34-27, when the Giants failed to score on the ensuing possession.

  • QB Jameis Winston completed 18-of-36 passing attempts for 366 yards, 2 touchdowns, 1 interception and a passer rating of 93.1 He also rushed 4 times for 13 yards and added 1 catch for 33 yards and a touchdown.
  • Winston joins QB Matt Ryan as one of two players since 1960 to throw for 350+ yards, 2+ touchdowns and catch 1 touchdown in a game. Ryan threw for 378 yards, 2 touchdowns and caught a 5-yard touchdown pass at Tampa Bay on 12/30/18.
  • WR Wan'Dale Robinson finished with 9 receptions for a career-high 156 yards and 1 touchdown.
  • In the first quarter, Robinson recorded 4 catches for 106 yards, the most receiving yards in the first quarter by any player this season and the most by a Giant since WR Plaxico Burress recorded 107 receiving yards on 10/2/05 vs. the Rams.
  • Today marked Robinson's second game of the season with 140+ receiving yards and 1 touchdown (142 yards, 1 touchdown at Dallas in Week 2). The last time a Giant had multiple games with 140+ receiving yards and 1 touchdown in a single season was in 2015 (WR Odell Beckham Jr., four games).
  • Robinson moved his season total to 794 receiving yards, a new single-season career-high.
  • DL Darius Alexander produced 4 tackles, 2.0 sacks, 2 quarterback hits and 2 tackles for loss.
  • Both of his sacks came in the first half, making him the first Giants rookie since DE Jason Pierre-Paul (2.0 sacks) vs. Washington on 12/5/10 to record 2.0 sacks in a first half.
  • S Jevón Holland recorded 4 tackles, 1 pass defensed and 1 interception, his first career interception as a Giant.
  • The Giants have scored 20+ points in seven straight games, tied for the 2nd-longest streak (2008) in a single season by a Giants team since 2000. The 2011 team scored 20+ points in eight consecutive games.
  • The Giants offense recorded 10 plays of 20+ yards today, the most in a single game since they recorded 10 at Dallas on 10/25/10.
