OTA No. 6: Touchdowns, takeaways & top plays

MALACHI-FIELDS-BOBS

The Giants wrapped up the second week of spring practices on Friday with OTA No. 6 of 10 at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center.

The team will return to the practice fields on Monday for four consecutive days of practice. After that, there is a three-day minicamp followed by a summer break until training camp in late July.

"Three really good practices this week, capped off by another really good practice," coach John Harbaugh said. "Really appreciate the way the guys are working, the energy they're putting forward, the attention to detail, how much they're improving from day-to-day into the football team that we've trying to build."

Here is everything you need to know from OTA No. 6:

Play of the Day

The Giants spent a lot of time working in the red zone, which produced plenty of touchdowns. The highlight was tight end Theo Johnson's catch in the back of the end zone on a pass from Jaxson Dart. The two later connected on a similar play, but it would have likely gone to review to see if the tight end got both feet inbounds.

Touchdowns

Dart also had red-zone touchdowns to tight end Isaiah Likely and wide receivers Malachi Fields, Calvin Ausin III, and Beaux Collins.

Jameis Winston also got on the board with one apiece to tight ends Chris Manhertz and Tanner Conner.

Takeaways

Following four interceptions on Wednesday and another on Thursday, the Giants' defense was shut out in the interception department. But there were a few close calls.

Top Plays

Outside linebackers Brian Burns and Abdul Carter had would be sacks early in 11-on-11 drills. Rookie linebacker Arvell Reese, the No. 5 overall pick, had one later in the red zone.

Cornerback Dru Phillips was flying around the field today and broke up a handful of passes, including one in the red zone that prevented a touchdown.

Colton Hood, the No. 37 overall pick in the draft, broke up a pass in the red zone. Fellow cornerback Art Green also made a nice play at the goal line near the pylon to get his hand on a pass.

Remaining Practices

OTAs: June 1-4

Minicamp: June 8-10

LB Arvell Reese and WR Malachi Fields put on their full Giants uniform for the first time at the NFLPA Rookie Premiere in Los Angeles.
