Carmen Bricillo, who has been in the NFL for seven of his 21-year coaching career, is in his second season as the Giants' offensive line coach.
In his first season as the offensive line coach for the Giants, Bricillo led a unit that allowed 48 sacks, the fewest by a Giants team since 2021 (38) and a significant decrease from the 85 allowed in 2023. In Weeks 17 and 18, the Giants line did not allow any sacks, making it the first time since 2021 that the offense did not give up a sack in back-to-back games. The Giants achieved this despite starting 10 different offensive line combinations (tied for the most in the league) throughout the season due to injuries.
Bricillo spent the 2022 and 2023 seasons as the line coach of the Las Vegas Raiders. Only 11 teams allowed fewer sacks in 2023 than the Raiders, whose quarterbacks were sacked 40 times. On Dec. 14, the Raiders set a franchise record for points in a 63-21 rout of the Los Angeles Chargers.
In 2022, despite starting seven different offensive line combinations and not having a consistent front five until Week 5, Bricillo led an offensive line unit that only allowed 35 sacks, tied for the ninth fewest in the NFL. Bricillo's unit helped the Raiders rush for 2,059 yards, their most in a single season since 2011. Raiders rushers were stuffed for a loss or no gain an NFL-low only 68 times, the fewest in the NFL. Josh Jacobs led the NFL in rushing with 1,653 yards.
Bricillo began his NFL coaching career with the New England Patriots in 2019, serving as a coaching assistant before being promoted to offensive line coach in 2020-21. During Bricillo's three years in New England, the Patriots earned one AFC East title and two playoff berths.
In 2021, Bricillo helped the Patriots finish eighth in the NFL in rushing yards per game (126.5) and sixth in points per game (27.2). Bricillo's line helped Damien Harris, set career highs with 202 carries for 929 yards and 15 touchdowns. Collectively, the Patriots recorded 24 rushing touchdowns, tied for the third most in franchise history.
Bricillo's group helped the Patriots finished fourth in the NFL with 146.6 rushing yards per game in 2020, the franchise's highest figure since 1983.
From 2010-18, Bricillo spent nine years coaching the offensive line at Youngstown State. During his time with the program, Bricillo coached 15 All-Missouri Valley Conference selections and the Penguins advanced to the 2016 NCAA FCS National Championship Game.
Prior to his time at Youngstown State, Bricillo spent the 2009 season as an offensive assistant coach at Illinois and worked at Akron as director of video services in 2006 and a coaching assistant from 2007-08. Bricillo helped with the offensive line with Illinois and worked with the tackles and tight ends as a coaching assistant at Akron.
Bricillo began his collegiate coaching career at his alma mater, Duquesne, as the offensive line coach in 2005. The Dukes had a 7-3 record and won a conference title that season, and four of Bricillo's linemen earned all-conference honors.
Prior to joining the staff at Duquesne, Bricillo spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Indiana Area High School.
Bricillo is a native of native of Shelocta, Pa. He played center at Duquesne, where he was selected first-team all-conference in 1995 and 1996. Bricillo earned his bachelor's degree in business administration from Duquesne and a master's degree in sports science and coaching from Akron.
Bricillo and his wife, Megan, have a daughter named Rilyn and a son named Luca.
