East Rutherford, NJ – The New York Giants and Gatorade have selected Mr. Jason Luciani of Butler High School (Butler, NJ) as the Lou Rettino High School Coach of the Week for Week 7 of the 2025 season. Butler finished the regular season undefeated at 6-0 following a 28-14 victory over a strong New Milford team with a three-game win streak. They will advance to play the Becton Wildcats (5-2) on Friday night as the NJIC playoffs begin.

The Lou Rettino High School Football Coach of the Week Award is part of the Giants' continuing effort to support local high school football programs. The Giants elected to name the award in memory of former Union High School (NJ) coach, Lou Rettino, for his fine commitment to the game of football, his community, and the betterment of his athletes' lives. Each week during the high school football season, the Giants selected one area high school head coach as the Coach of the Week winner. The selection is based on the coach's continuing commitment towards promoting youth football, developing motivated student-athletes, and contributing overall to their community.

In recognition of Coach Luciani's selection as Coach of the Week, a $2,000 check will be granted to the school's football program from The Giants Foundation and Gatorade. He will also receive a certificate of recognition signed by Giants head coach Brian Daboll and will be honored at a dinner following the season, as well as at a 2026 pre-season home game.

Jason Luciani has served as the head coach of the Butler Bulldogs since 2013, guiding the program to 11 winning seasons in 13 years and an overall record of 88-38. Under his leadership, the Bulldogs captured a sectional title in 2018, and in 2024 claimed their first ever NJIC championship with a victory over Glen Rock. That same season, Butler went on to win the NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 1, Group 1 title with a commanding 42-7 victory over Mountain Lakes. The win marked the ninth sectional title in the program's storied history, which dates back to 1918. "As a lifelong Giants fan, this is one of the greatest honors of my life. I would like to thank the New York Giants for this prestigious award. Our players played a great game on Saturday against a very tough New Milford team on the road. I owe a lot to a phenomenal coaching staff; most of whom are Butler graduates who have been part of a program we all love. I am so proud to be a custodian and a small part of the Butler Football tradition. I also want to thank my wife Tracy, who is the love of my life and the most amazing person I know. And to my son Jake and my daughter Kate, both proud Butler graduates, thank you for your constant love and support. I would not be the person I am today without you."
