Notes and stats to get you ready for Sunday Night Football between the New York Giants (0-2) and Kansas City Chiefs (0-2).

When the Giants have the ball

The story of Week 2 was the Giants' 506-yard outburst, which more than doubled their total in the season opener. Their 37 points rank third-most in the Brian Daboll era (since 2022) and were 31 more than the week before.

Russell Wilson was signed to open up the explosive plays, and he has done just that. Below are the deep passing rankings through two weeks.

The Giants still left points on the board in Dallas as they struggled in the red zone for the second consecutive week. The Giants are tied for seventh in the NFL in red zone drives (seven) but have come away with just one touchdown (14.3 percent, 31st in the NFL).

On the other side, Kansas City is tied for 20th in red zone defense, allowing touchdowns on 66.7 percent of trips by the opponent.

The Chiefs have been successful limiting the big plays, however. Only two teams have given up fewer plays of 20 yards than the Chiefs (five), none of which have been runs.

The Chiefs have allowed 18.5 points per game since 2023, fewest in the NFL.

When the Chiefs have the ball

The Chiefs are averaging 22.1 points per game since 2023 (17th in NFL) after they led the NFL with 30.1 from 2018 to 2022. But they are still No. 1 in having the most players named Patrick Mahomes.

The three-time Super Bowl MVP and two-time league MVP celebrated his 30th birthday this week. He has the most regular-season wins (89), postseason wins (17), passing touchdowns (247) and passing yards per game (287.7) in NFL history among players prior to turning 30.

Nevertheless, Mahomes has more rush yads (123) than all other Chiefs combined (96) this season.

Did you know?

The Chiefs have lost back-to-back one-possession games to start the 2025 season. They had won 17 such games in a row (including postseason), the longest streak in NFL history, according to NFL Research.

Still can't believe it?

The Giants and Cowboys scored a combined 41 points in the fourth quarter in Week 2. It was the third game in NFL history to go to overtime after each team scored at least 20 points in the fourth quarter.

The game featured six lead changes in the fourth quarter and overtime, tied for the most in league history (Baltimore defeated Minnesota 29-26 in Week 14, 2013).

Brandon Aubrey made a 64-yard, game-tying FG as time expired in regulation to force OT. According to NFL Research, it was the fifth made FG of 60+ yards in final five seconds of a game since 2000. It was the first since the Vikings' Greg Joseph in Week 16, 2022, also against the Giants.

Sunday was the fourth time Wilson had multiple passing touchdowns of 30+ yards in the fourth quarter. No other player has done so more than twice since he entered the NFL in 2012.
