The Giants hit the field on Tuesday for their only fully padded practice between their second and third preseason games. Temperatures were perfect in the high 70s under partly cloudy skies. Practice lasted an hour and 15 minutes and included multiple team periods.
* The biggest news of the day came before practice when Brian Daboll told the media a number of players that have missed time with injury would return to the practice field. Andrew Thomas was taken off the PUP list, while Malik Nabers, Cam Skattebo and Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles were back working with their teammates in some capacity. There are 19 days until the first regular season game against the Commanders.
* The first competitive period featured two-on-two drills at the goal line, where defensive backs had to successfully pass off receivers criss-crossing to create natural rub routes. Gunner Olszweski caught a pair of touchdowns, while Juice Wells and Jalin Hyatt each scored. Art Green had a pass deflection during the period to prevent a touchdown catch. Green had another pass deflection later during team red zone drills.
* The offensive and defensive lines did some pass rush 1-on-1's against each other. Dexter Lawrence showed his dominance, marching the center into the backfield. Abdul Carter won his rep with a lightning fast inside move against the left tackle. Elijah Chatman had a quick move for a win against Greg Van Roten, but then the veteran offensive lineman won on the next rep. Rakeem Nunez Roches had a win using his quick hands, while D.J. Davidson won with a swim move. Jermaine Eluemunor had a good rep, while Stone Forsythe had two nice reps winning on the outside.
* Jaxson Dart showed nice touch in 7-on-7, with two passes to the sideline between the second and third level of the defense to Darius Slayton and Wan'Dale Robinson.
* During team periods, Dee Williams knocked a pass away intended for Zach Pascal. Bobby Okereke knifed into the backfield on a run play to stop Devin Singletary at the line of scrimmage. Russell Wilson hit Darius Slayton for a touchdown during red zone team drills. Jaxson Dart put nice touch on the ball on a pass over the middle to get it over the head of the linebacker to find Beaux Collins.
* Jameis Winston threw a pair of touchdowns in the same period, the first a short pass into the flat to Jermaine Terry, who turned it upfield for a score. One play later, Winston bought some time by moving in the pocket before finding wide receiver Jordan Bly in front of the backline in the middle of the end zone.
* The most amazing play of practice came on a deep pass from Jaxson Dart, giving Jordan Bly a chance to win a jump ball battle against Art Green, who played excellent coverage. Bly tipped the ball up in the air, away from Green, and to himself for a tough catch and a 40-yard gain.
* The Giants will have a walkthrough and meetings tomorrow before their third and final preseason game on Thursday night at 8 p.m. at MetLife Stadium against the Patriots.
