Week 2 of OTAs is underway.

Following the holiday weekend and the annual golf outing to benefit the Giants Foundation, the New York Giants returned to the practice fields on Wednesday at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center.

Here is everything you need to know from OTA No. 4:

Play of the Day

Jarrick Bernard-Converse did his best impersonation of an outfielder for the second of a four-interception day for the defense. The fourth-year cornerback backhanded a deep pass as he swung his head around, tipping it to himself and securing the takeaway. Bernard-Converse was claimed off waivers from the Browns last October and played in five games for the Giants.

Jason Pick-ock

Safety Jason Pinnock, who returned to the Giants this offseason, grabbed the first interception of the day during an 11-on-11 period (although outside linebacker Brian Burns was in position for a sack before the throw). Pinnock grabbed another pick near the goal line during a red zone session.

It punctuated an active day for the safeties. Ar'Darius Washington, who spent his first five seasons with the Ravens, nearly had an interception during 7-on-7s but could not secure it. Jevón Holland, meanwhile, also sniffed out a pair of screen plays throughout the afternoon.

"I think they're looking really good out there," coach John Harbaugh said of the safeties last week. "They take control. They communicate. Jevón Holland is a proven NFL high-level safety, and he's very young and just starting his career. And then [Tyler] Nubin, same thing. Coming out he was a guy that everybody liked. High draft pick. He looks good, too. He's leaned up. He's moving well. Of course, we know Ar'Darius personally. Gives you a third piece in there. Then there are other guys too. Elijah Campbell looks good out there. Pinnock looks good. Hate to miss somebody, but it's a good-looking group to me."

Cornerback Dru Phillips also got on the board with an interception that had a high degree of difficulty. The third-year pro hauled it in backwards while tapping his heels near the sideline.

Touchdowns

Running back Devin Singletary opened up the scoring for the offense, gaining the edge on a short pass from Jaxson Dart and running into the end zone untouched.

"I'm just continuing to try to learn the system," Dart said last week. "It's new to me. It's new to everybody here. It's been really cool to have a lot of amazing minds kind of collab and make something that's been really fun to operate. So, I think everybody out here is just trying to go along with just competing but just executing. There's steps in my game that I want to grow within the pocket. So, I just think that each and every rep you're just trying to identify pre-snap, post-snap reads and then just be really solid with progressions. And those are just steps I'm trying to take at this time for sure."

Dart added that the system includes a lot of things that he hasn't done before.

"So, it's been fun to kind of get new experiences, try new things, have communication with the coaches on what I like, what they like and get a ton of reps at it," Dart said. "So, I think that's been fun for me. At the same time, there's a little bit more that's involved within it. So, it's been fun to learn, to have the command, the control at the line of scrimmage. And you have the keys to get what you want and put your offense in the best situation. It's very versatile. There's a lot of just things that we can do within the system from a personnel standpoint. And the guys have been able to pick it up at a good level, and we've been able to play fast."

Backup quarterback Jameis Winston connected with tight end Tanner Conner for a touchdown in the same red zone period.

Dante Miller found the end zone on a run up the middle before fellow running back Eric Gray ended the work in the red zone with a touchdown on a pass from Winston.

Notable

Rookie linebacker Arvell Reese, the fifth overall draft choice, once again showed his sideline-to-sideline speed and closed quickly on a screen play.

Tight end Isaiah Likely had a toe-tapping catch on the sideline on a pass from Dart.

"He's just a ball player," Dart said about his first impressions of Likely. "He's kind of unorthodox in some ways that he moves, but he's extremely savvy and smart. And so, it's awkward for guys to cover him because he's able to just, as a big guy, his stature, just able to bend and move in some ways, makes it really hard for defenders.

"He has a great mind of the game. Against zone coverages, he's able to find zones. And you saw him in Baltimore, too, on scramble drills, just his instincts taking over and making really good plays with [Ravens quarterback] Lamar [Jackson]. It's been great, and super happy to have another playmaker like him out there."

Dart connected twice with wide receiver Calvin Austin III for long gains.

Veteran linebacker Tremaine Edmunds prevented a touchdown with what would have been a tackle over the middle in the red zone.
