Chris Horton is entering his first season as the assistant head coach/special teams coordinator for the New York Giants. He brings 14 years of coaching experience to East Rutherford, including 12 seasons in the NFL, all with the Baltimore Ravens as a member of John Harbaugh's staff.
In 2025, Horton guided punter Jordan Stout to first-team All-Pro honors, as he set Ravens franchise marks with a 50.1 average and a league-leading 44.9 net average. Stout also owned the fifth-lowest return average in the NFL last season, allowing 6.9 yards per return.
From 2020-25, when Horton led the Ravens' special teams, Baltimore averaged 11.8 yards per punt return, the third best in the NFL, and allowed 23.2 yards per kickoff return, the third lowest in the league. They also ranked among the top 10 in kicking points (816, second), kickoff/punt return touchdowns (3, tied for ninth) and field goal percentage (86.7%, 10th).
Since Horton began working with the Ravens special teams units in 2015, five players have combined to appear in 14 Pro Bowls. Kicker Justin Tucker was selected to six Pro Bowls, while long snapper Morgan Cox made four, return specialist Devin Duvernay made two and punters Sam Koch (2015) and Jordan Stout (2025) both made one. Tucker was also named a first-team All-Pro four times (2016, '18, '19 and '21).
Prior to working in the NFL, Horton spent two seasons (2012-13) at UCLA as a quality control coach, assisting with the defense and special teams.
Horton played three seasons in the NFL after being selected in the seventh round (249th overall) by Washington in 2008. He appeared in 29 games and totaled 80 tackles, 8 passes defensed, 8 tackles for loss, 3 interceptions, 3 quarterback hits, 2 fumble recoveries and 1 forced fumble. Before his career ended due to injuries, Horton spent the 2012 training camp with the New York Giants.
A UCLA graduate who played safety for the Bruins from 2004-07, Horton earned his bachelor's degree in history. In 2022, he participated in the NFL's inaugural Coach and Front Office Accelerator Program, an initiative by the league to strengthen the pipeline of diverse candidates across all levels.
Horton attended De La Salle High School in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he was inducted into the school's Hall of Fame in 2014. He and his wife, Jackie, have three daughters, Kristinia, Khloe and Kallie and a son, Kaden.
