Frank Bush brings over 40 years of NFL experience to the Giants, as he enters his 35th season as a coach and first as the Giants' inside linebackers coach. He spent two seasons (1985-86) as a player and began work as a scout in 1987.
Bush worked for the Titans/Oilers organizations on three separate occasions, overseeing the linebackers in 1992, 2011-12 and most recently in 2024-25. He also worked as a college scout for the Oilers from 1987-91.
Bush spent the 2024 and 2025 seasons as a linebackers coach for the Tennessee Titans, working under current Giants defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson. In his latest stint with the Titans, Bush played a significant role in the development of Cedric Gray, who led the Titans with 160 total tackles. Gray's 160 tackles ranked fifth in the NFL and tied for the second-most by a Titan in a single season.
Before his recent tenure with Tennessee, Bush spent three seasons (2021-23) as the linebackers coach for the Atlanta Falcons. With Bush directing the group, Atlanta had six different linebackers total 100+ tackles, including Foyesade Oluokun, who recorded 192 tackles in 2021. Oluokun is the only player since 2000 to record 190+ tackles in a single season.
In 2019 and 2020, Bush served as the assistant head coach defense/linebackers for the New York Jets. He spent the last four games of the 2020 season as the defensive coordinator, helping lead the Jets to a 2-2 record in those four contests.
Bush served as the assistant head coach and linebackers coach for the Miami Dolphins in 2017 and 2018. In 2018, linebacker Kiko Alonso tied for the 10th-most tackles in the league, while finishing 14th in 2017.
Prior to his time with the Dolphins, Bush spent four years (2013-16) with the Rams as linebackers coach. Bush oversaw a linebacking corps that produced multiple players with 100+ tackles every season he was on staff, including Mark Barron, who was originally drafted as a safety. Bush played a major role in Barron's transition, who started all 16 games for the Rams in 2016 and played 99.72 percent of snaps.
Before joining the Dolphins, Bush had his second run with the Oilers/Titans, overseeing the linebacker room in 2011 and 2012.
Bush spent four seasons from 2007-10 with the Houston Texans, the first two as a senior defensive assistant (2007-08), primarily working with the defensive line. In 2009 and 2010, Bush served as the team's defensive coordinator. With Bush overseeing the defense, the Texans sent three players to the Pro Bowl: Brian Cushing, Mario Williams and current Texans head Coach DeMeco Ryans. Cushing also earned the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year award (2009) after recording 133 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 10 passes defensed, 4.0 sacks, 4 interceptions and 2 forced fumbles.
From 2004-06, Bush coached the Arizona Cardinals linebackers, adding the title of assistant head coach in 2006. Bush worked closely with Karlos Dansby, the Cardinals' second-round pick in 2004, who ranked second among all rookies in tackles for loss (7) and tied for third in sacks (5.0). In 2005, Dansby was one of five players to have multiple interceptions returned for touchdowns. Dansby combined for 27 tackles for loss in 2005 and 2006, tied for the third-most in the NFL in that span.
Bush worked for the Denver Broncos in a variety of roles from 1995 to 2003, including as the linebackers coach (1995-99), secondary/nickel coach (2000) and as a special teams coach (2001-03). Bush was a part of two Super Bowl-winning teams (XXXII and XXXIII) during his time in Denver.
Originally a fifth-round draft pick (133rd overall) by the Houston Oilers in the 1985 NFL Draft, Bush played two seasons and earned All-Rookie honors in 1985 after producing 3.0 sacks, 3 forced fumbles and 3 fumble recoveries. In his second season, Bush suffered an injury that revealed a narrow spinal canal, forcing an early end to his playing career. Bush remained in the Oilers organization, joining the team's scouting department as a college scout (1987-91) before transitioning into coaching in 1992.
Born in Athens, Ga., he is married to Stephanie. Bush attended North Carolina State, where he was a three-year starter.
