Follow the road to the season opener at Washington with our latest updates from 1925 Giants Drive.
Saturday, Sept. 6
4 p.m. -- The Giants activated DL Elijah Garcia (standard elevation) from the practice squad. Garcia played in five games with three starts for the Giants last season, totaling 14 tackles (five solo), two tackles for loss, one quarterback hit and one fumble recovery. Prior to the Giants, the 6-foot-5, 302-pounder played two seasons with the Broncos and appeared in five games. The Giants open the 2025 season on the road at Washington on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET.
Friday Sept. 5
2:36 p.m. -- The Giants released their final injury report of Week 1, including game statuses.
Doubtful: OT Andrew Thomas (foot)
Questionable: None
Out: None
Thomas was limited in Friday's practice; WR Malik Nabers (back) did not practice.
11:30 a.m. -- Brian Daboll said left tackle Andrew Thomas will practice today. They will meet with the medical staff after practice and discuss his status for the game. They will back down wide receiver Malik Nabers today but he will be fine for the game, Daboll said. His back is a little tight. After practice, Thomas said he took team reps for the first time. "I thought it was a good day." His biggest concern is the risk of re-injury as he works through managing the pain. "We'll see" about Sunday.
Thursday, Sept. 4
12:45 p.m. -- Brian Daboll said they are backing off Andrew Thomas (foot) today and will see where he is tomorrow. It is part of the plan for him. He did more yesterday and "looked good." Everybody else will be going today. Daboll also confirmed that assistant head coach/offensive coordinator Mike Kafka will be calling plays from the sideline.
Wednesday, Sept. 3
12:30 p.m. -- Speaking to the media before Wednesday's practice, coach Brian Daboll said the Giants will be in full pads and "everybody will be out there." Daboll went on to confirm that Andrew Thomas would practice and said the left tackle is "improving" each day. Additionally, the head coach told reporters that tight end Theo Johnson is "good to go." Thomas, listed as a limited participant on Wednesday, was the only player on the injury report.
Tuesday, Sept. 2
12:05 p.m. -- The Giants released their first unofficial depth chart ahead of Sunday's season opener at Washington. As always, it is subject to change. It simply serves as a guide, more so for the media than the coaches. CLICK HERE to see the unofficial depth chart as of Sept. 2.
Friday, Aug. 29
1:00 p.m. -- The Giants announced a series of roster moves Friday afternoon, including the re-signing of wide receiver Gunner Olszewski. Cornerback Rico Payton, whom the Giants claimed off waivers from the Saints on Wednesday, was placed on injured reserve. Additionally, linebacker Zaire Barnes and guard McClendon Curtis were signed to the practice squad. In a corresponding move, outside linebacker Trace Ford was released from the practice squad.
12:16 p.m. -- After much interest over the offseason, third overall pick Abdul Carter is sticking with his No. 51 jersey number.
Thursday, Aug. 28
4:21 p.m. -- The Giants continued to build out their practice squad with the additions of linebacker Swayze Bozeman, tight end Qadir Ismail and safety Patrick McMorris.
On Wednesday, they brought back 13 players on the practice squad, all of whom spent the offseason with the team.
Clubs are allowed 17 players on the practice squad, as long as one player qualifies and is designated as an international player. Kicker Jude McAtamney, a native of Derry, Ireland, is that player for the Giants.
2:00 p.m. - Left tackle Andrew Thomas was asked in the locker room today what his status is for Week 1.
"I'm not sure yet," said Thomas. "I haven't really done a ton of reps. I've done some indy (individual drills), took some one-on-one reps. I'm just trying to progress slowly, so we'll see. But like I said, I'm not making any projections right now."
Thomas participated in parts of Wednesday's practice, and while the rest of the team will be off on Friday, the left tackle said he will be at the facility to get some work in.
"Every time you go out there and do something new, there's some soreness that comes with that," Thomas told reporters about how he felt after Wednesday's practice. "But I responded pretty well, and I'm feeling good today. And then I'll get on the field tomorrow to do some more running. I know everybody else is off, but that's just the plan that they have for me right now, to get some extra stuff on Friday and keep progressing."

Lawrence was previously tied with former defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul, who came in at No. 24 in 2012 after one of the most dominant seasons in franchise history. After a one-year absence, the team will also bring back their "Vintage White" color rush uniforms for back-to-back games at Chicago (Week 10) and home against Green Bay (Week 11). The uniform includes the classic navy helmet with the underlined "GIANTS" wordmark on both sides.

Sunday, Aug. 24
2:02 p.m. -- The Giants released safety K'von Wallace and placed cornerback TJ Moore (leg) on injured reserve. Wallace had signed on July 22 after he was with the team on a tryout basis during minicamp in mid-June. Meeting with the media Sunday afternoon, Brian Daboll said he had just talked to Moore. "He was just here a little while ago," the head coach said. "Good spirits, but tough injury for him."
Friday, Aug. 22
2:37 p.m. -- Brian Daboll said cornerback TJ Moore (leg) will have surgery Friday or Saturday. He was still in the hospital at the time the head coach spoke to the media Friday afternoon. The undrafted rookie suffered the injury late in Thursday night's preseason finale and was carted off the field while surrounded by the team. Earlier in the game, Moore returned an interception 44 yards for a touchdown, putting the Giants ahead 35-10 with less than a minute left in the third quarter.
1:28 p.m. -- The Giants released the following eight players ahead of Tuesday's 53-man roster deadline:
- WR Jordan Bly
- ILB K.J. Cloyd
- CB O'Donnell Fortune
- ILB Dyontae Johnson
- C Jimmy Morrissey
- WR Zach Pascal
- WR Montrell Washington
- OL Jaison Williams
The moves came the morning after the Giants wrapped up the preseason with a 42-10 victory over the Patriots. NFL clubs must reduce their active rosters to 53 players by 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday, paring them down from the current limit of 90.
The claiming period for players placed on waivers at the final roster reduction will expire at noon the following day. The Giants are third in the claiming order on the waiver wire. After that, clubs may establish a practice squad of 17 players, as long as one player qualifies as international.
