The Giants took to the field Wednesday for their first practice of 2022 training camp.

Following yesterday's roster moves, the only four players not participating in practice were wide receiver Sterling Shepard (Achilles), center Nick Gates (leg), and offensive tackle Matt Peart (knee), all of whom are currently on the PUP list, and LB Azeez Ojulari, who was put on the non-football injury list with a hamstring injury.

The team has yet to go full pads at practice, starting camp with helmets only.

Here are notes from the opening practice:

*Rookie linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux was out of the red jersey that he wore during part of the spring. Speaking before practice, coach Brian Daboll said the fifth overall pick is full-go for training camp.

*Earlier this morning, rookie tight end Daniel Bellinger was activated off the PUP list after being placed on it a week earlier. Bellinger was involved right away, catching a pass from Daniel Jones on one of the first plays of walk-through. When seven-on-seven drills began, Jones once again found Bellinger over the middle.

*During individual drills, Saquon Barkley made a spectacular one-handed catch on a pass from Jones. The two connected for a touchdown during 11-on-11s when the QB found Barkley over the middle for a short score.

*The first live drills were seven-on-seven in the red zone, where Jones quickly found Barkley for a solid gain. Soon after, veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor connected with wide receiver Richie James to get the ball near the goal line.

*Rookie cornerback Cor'Dale Flott had an active day with a couple of pass breakups, including one in the end zone during seven-on-seven. On one of the final plays of practice, Robert Foster made a nice leaping catch in the end zone near the sideline, but Flott made a great play to push him out of bounds before he landed to force an incompletion.

*The first set of team drills ended with Davis Webb finding Austin Proehl for a touchdown near the pylon.

*On the first play of 11-on-11 drills, Jones hit Kadarius Toney for a couple of yards. Later in practice, the two would pair up for an amazing touchdown with Toney leaping up, tapping the ball up to himself and then coming down with both feet in bounds.

*Taylor connected with receivers for two touchdowns, one to David Sills and another to Richie James.

*Webb found tight end Ricky Seals-Jones at the pylon for a touchdown to conclude the first period of 11-on-11 drills.

*While Taylor and Webb were taking turns running the offense, Jones was standing behind the offense talking to Wan'Dale Robinson. The conversation seemed to pay off, as Jones later threw a perfectly placed ball to the rookie receiver in the corner of the end zone for a sweet touchdown.

*Running back Matt Breida got on the board with a rushing touchdown from a few yards out. He later caught a pass from Taylor to get the offense near the goal line.

*Darnay Holmes made the play of the day on defense when he made a diving interception, which served as the lone turnover of practice.

*Running back Antonio Williams caught a short touchdown pass from Taylor, while newcomer Marcus Kemp found the end zone on a pass from Webb.
