Touchdowns & Takeaways: Russell Wilson connects with Malik Nabers

MALIK-NABERS-TICKETMASTER

Training camp practice No. 3 is in the books.

After the Giants spent the first two days largely in the red zone, they pulled back the line of scrimmage on Friday and worked the middle part of the field. Players are off tomorrow and will return to action on Sunday.

Here is everything you need to know from practice:

TOUCHDOWNS

The big play of the day was a 50-yard moonball from Russell Wilson to Malik Nabers down the left sideline for a touchdown.

Earlier this week, the locker mates spoke about developing chemistry.

"Malik and I have a great relationship," Wilson said. "He has the locker right next to me actually, and we got to spend a lot of time in San Diego [training] together. I just love how he works. A lot of times you get talented guys and their work ethic is super high, but can they keep it consistent? That's what you're always looking for. And I think his consistency and his love for the game, his consistency in his playmaking, his tenacity for the game, his leadership, his thought process, communication."

On the flipside, Nabers grew up watching the 10-time Pro Bowl quarterback. In fact, his favorite team was the Seahawks -- but admitted it was mostly for their legendary defensive backfield.

"I've been watching him since the Super Bowl when he won, so I've been watching him a long time," Nabers said. "My favorite team was the Seahawks at the time, but I was really on defense at the time, so Legion of Boom was really going up. I've been watching him a long time and to get great passes from him, get to see his leadership – I understand now why he's been doing it for so long. To have that on the side of me in my locker room is just an extra mentor that I have on side of me. I'm kind of taking that challenge up to move forward and better myself and hopefully we can do some great things this year."

A pair of rookies closed practice on a high note, with Jaxson Dart finding running back Cam Skattebo for a red-zone touchdown on the final play.

TAKEAWAYS

The offense was clean in the turnover department, but rookie cornerback Korie Black got close. The seventh-round pick put himself in good position to break up a pass 20 yards downfield.

TOP PLAYS

Dart and Skattebo connected a handful of times other than the touchdown, including a nice sideline catch by the handsy running back.

Beaux Collins stretched out for a nice catch on a pass from Tommy DeVito. Shortly after, Jordan Bly, another undrafted rookie receiver, caught a pass through traffic from Jameis Winston.

Defensive lineman Elijah Chatman stuffed a run play early in 11-on-11 drills.

Running back Dante Miller hit the "Turbo" button on a catch-and-run.

Safety Tyler Nubin and cornerback Deonte Banks teamed up to force an incompletion on a deep attempt from Wilson to wide receiver Darius Slayton.

Safety Dane Belton and defensive lineman Elijah Garcia each had a would-be sack.
