Touchdowns, takeaways & top plays from practice No. 9

MONTRELL-WASHINGTON-TICKETMASTER

There is a new leader in the clubhouse for the best play of training camp.

During a team period in Saturday's practice, the ninth of the summer so far, it was cornerback Dru Phillips who seemingly made the highlight reel by breaking up a deep pass attempt from Russell Wilson to wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson. But then it got interesting.

Tom Coughlin (who watched two practices this week) liked to say luck is when preparation meets opportunity, and the wide receiver was right on time. Robinson, falling on his back, laid on the ground as the ball deflected straight up in the air and fell right onto his chest. After the dust settled, Robinson got up and ran it the rest of the way for a touchdown.

That one will be tough to beat.

TOUCHDOWNS

It was another day for the Jaxson Dart and Montrell Washington show. Once again, the rookie quarterback and third-year wide receiver connected on a long touchdown during 1-on-1 drills to start the day.

Not to be outdone, Russell Wilson then threw a touchdown to a leaping Malik Nabers in the end zone from the same distance.

Moving to 11-on-11 drills, aside from Robinson's circus catch, the other touchdown was a pass from Dart to undrafted rookie wide receiver Jordan Bly in the end zone. Blye slid for the catch on the play, which the referee ruled a touchdown on the field. It likely would have gone to an official review.

TAKEAWAYS

After the defense notched four interceptions on Friday, the offense was clean in the turnover department during the final practice before a day off.

TOP PLAYS

Phillips made a nice play to break up a pass during 1-on-1 drills.

Wilson started team drills with a pair of completions to tight ends Theo Johnson and Daniel Bellinger. The latter was for a big gain on a great play design, which faked to the right and came back to the left side.

Undrafted rookie wide receiver Da'Quan Felton used his go-go gadget arms to catch a pass in stride from Jameis Winston. It was part of three consecutive completions for the veteran quarterback, who also hit Bly and Gunner Olszewski to end the period.

Undrafted rookie outside linebacker Trace Ford notched a would-be sack.
